The STEAM Sales and Releases Thread

  1. Kinda interested in the Cave but I'm not sure about $6. For one thing I'm not that wild about Double Fine, and for another it sounds like it has some pretty poor (Super easy) puzzle design.

Thinking about buying the Arcania bundle because Bruticis looooves Arcania. I also still feel bitter about buying the Gothic 2 and 3 bundle before they added Gothic 1 and the Gothic 3 expansion to Steam.

Yeah, I was excited for The Cave, but it really seems like is very shitty and people just consider it "okay" due being a Double Fine game...

So far it simple, little funny and most importantly easy to pick up and play. No 2deep storyline, so its a good light game

Apparently it would be if it came with the two expansions which add a lot of stuff, but the developers stated those won't get ported to the PC.

And yet they have no qualms charging $20 base price -- hilarious. I'm thinking there's a chance it might get added as a bonus to the Android bundle and I can mooch it off of MHC since he already owns it. But, yeah, outside of an indie bundle I'd never buy it.

  6. Bought it for a dollar from a GMG sale and figured I was safe because it has a publisher. I was wrong! NOTHING IS SAFE ANY MORE!

Hoping for Stealth Bastard since that looks alright. Probably just gonna be repeats from previous Android bundles though. Going to be the fifteenth time Swords and Soldiers HD has been bundled I bet.

My desire for Stealth Bastard isn't strong enough to chip in when nothing else interests me. It looks okay but more of a platform puzzler than a stealth game. It's only about 2-3 hours long, too.

  8. Ah hell. Ruskie reseller on CAG is offering Bioshock Infinite for $40. Since I enjoyed me some Bioshock I'm tempted, especially since selling all the hats for $10 and Xcom for $10 (Assuming all unlocks, but I don't think any preorder with unlocks on Steam has ever not met all the goals) sounds entirely possible.

On the other hand, season pass of DLC for a singleplayer shooter leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I could wait like a month after the game's release and be a dork and ask for it for a birthday present. Then again if someone bought me that it wouldn't be at a sale price most likely and that would eat at me. Clearly the best course of action is to buy all videogames myself and prevent others from hurting themselves trying to be nice to me.

Me too, especially because you can't actually buy Gothic 1 individually, and need to get it as part of that bundle we already got. From what I've heard, I can do without the expansion though.

Holy shit immediate buy. That brings the grand total of the game and all its DLC down to $2213.37. What a bargain!

    ^

Blood Bowl Chaos edition on midweek madness. Tranformers 2 too, but I think it's mostly a multiplayer game.

    Sacred Gold as well.

I've read that Blood Bowl is unplayable unless you're used to the boardgame, because it's complex and SP has a shitty excuse tutorial and MP is 99% oldfags. y / n

Blood Bowl is confusing as fuck, plus it is real-time which is always decline.

Sacred 2 is okay, if you like an offline MMO.

Ever since buying Silverfall and getting bored with two hours I've been leery of Sacred 2.

Well, from what I remember the Tutorial is more an interface lesson rather than a game one, but it does finish by suggesting that you read the boardgame rules (which you can get for free from Games Workshop), a suggestion that definitely should be followed btw. Complexity wise, well it's a turn-based game with the random element of dice, and is more RPG than many a Mass Effect due to the use of skills, stats, and some good ol' on the fly number crunching to play. How do you think the average gamer of today is going to find it?

Also, been looking at the for-cheapness of Tropico for a couple of days, but does one go for 3 or 4 in this regard?

It's not really that hard to get into it, and it's not real-time (unless you choose that shitty mode, which you shouldn't).
