Mini Review
Will update as I play more
So far playing Fort Defense, I'm not getting an "Oh god this is hard" feeling, but am only in first waves
Update 1: So far the enemies are obviously far weaker than their pre-update variants, though they are getting stronger every wave, and increasing in numbers vastly
Update 2: Okay turns out I can eat my words, because as soon as I typed up update one and came back to the fight, the next wave started
Instead of a vast horde of the buggers spawning, one massive giant one spawned, and it just would..not..♥♥♥♥ing...die! So it seems the first few waves are more for you to set up, and then things get 'really' hard.
Update 3: Going at it again, this time I will play the mode as it was meant to be played, and create a large base to defend against the waves of buggers
Update 3.1: Found a bug, apparently if you lose one round and choose to restart, the crying baby things in the tank will still be making their noise, and it just isn't stopping, so is best to quit to menu and come back
Update 3.34: From the size these things can get to you're going to have to build the freaking tower of Babel or atleast a dome to keep the queen-sized ones from just ducking their heads in and wacking the Tank*. As an added note I was right, the first way the first few rounds seem to work is to offer only a little challenge while you set up your base for the freak bosses that come along, though hell something tough can come along in the early rounds because these things spawn in random various sizes.
Update 3.6: Turns out I was wrong in a way. I had thought there were waves followed by bosses and waves again, but turns out you can have a mix of one giant mofo and smaller little guys, busting right through the walls if they aren't thick enough
*I say Tank, but I don't know the official name for the thing you're protecting, now if you'll excuse me I need to gather more weapons before I die
Update 4: Okay so, yeah, don't think building high is gonna be all you need, you also want your base to be good and thick because the king and queen sized bugger bust right through, and before you know it you have a busted Vat [the actual name for the Tank]. I'll stop now and hunt down a pal to give multiplayer a try. As an added note this time I don't hear the crying baby things, so I'm guessing that bit about their sound spam only applies if you lost while being near the Vat. If you don't hear them at the end of the round, you won't hear them at the beginning of the next one.
Update 5: Decided to test out the turrets, and it turns out you'll need to gather oil and metal pallets if you're going to do that, even for just one. So keep an eye out for oil barrels as they drop. Oh, and if you get hit by your turret you'll die in one shot now, and I'm having that death sound spam again.
Death sound has disappeared, and it turns out turrets are a life saver. They are exactly what you need when playing solo in this mode.
Okay yeah if you continue to make turrets you'll hold off the swarms
Side effects include lag from all the turret fire and the massive bugger(s) fighting

Will review the multiplayer if a few people could toss me their ip addresses and we give the mode a swing
Played multiplayer, so far no good. The guy I was connected to I think wasn't near enough to me for the server to play well, and everything was glitched out badly.

Extra notes to give:
I'm loving the overall mechanics of the game. I like that you can chop down trees with your guns, cut them up, and if you want to craft building blocks you have to be around the piles you make*. I only wish they would bring the digging back, because I've not personally had the chance to see it in action.
Turns out they've updated how the character is controlled, atleast for now.
Instead of your character rotating around their center, such as in the last few version of the game(which allowed you do such things as jump from a cliff and hit head first), you now are always stuck in an upright position, which removes the freedom of control, but makes climbing walls easier and control smoother.
In Creative Mode I've found invisible walls floating up in the middle of the air, where there a empty gun models just sitting there. Interesting.
Turns out those guns are also floating at the top of the map in Fort Defense. Also interesting.
