I got it for $2.50ish from some Gamer's Gate glitch but have yet to play. Apparently it's horribly optimized.

Sounds eerily familiar. I started the game up and looked at the beginning, but then forgot about it.

Folk Tale will be sold for $20 with early access (basically allows you to play Alpha and Beta) at the end of May:

I see Tomb Raider: The Remake: The Cinematic Majesticness is 50% off... Seeing as it was only released 2 moths ago, is this an indication of extreme shittyness? $25 seems a little high if it's just a movie with a tasteful-almost-rape scene and a much more slutty-sounding Lara.

Typical Square Enix pricing as of late. Will be even cheaper in Steam summer sale.

  11. Wondering the same thing. Especially since I liked HoMM5 quite a bit.

Keep in mind at this point the Summer Sale is probably six weeks away.

No, by all means don't grab HoMM6 at any price, only heard terrible things about it, look for the thread about it in the Strategy subforum.

It's better than H5, but wait for 4.99€ sale or something.

I watched TWO LPs just to make sure and it was fascinating - if you took everything that's wrong with current AAA industry (ak-shun, eks-plow-shuns, QTEs, fucking ENDLESS cutscenes, excruciating corridorishness, the very essence of popamole combat and hopeless dumbed-to-Down plot/dialogues) and jammed it into one single box...you'd get the new Tomb Raider. For me it's - together with Bioshock Infinite - the most loathsome game of this year.

That's a hot issue around here. Lot's of old Homam fans hate it because it does some things differently from Homam 1-3. Specifically the magic system and character development.

My take - both of those things are worse then in Homam3 and I missed the old magic system but the new one is bearable. The combat is similar to the King's Bounty series, in that all creatures have initiative and various special abilities (which now, after a year of patching, finally work correctly). There's added feature, the Dynasty Weapons and Dynasty Traits, basically a glorified DRM scheme, but you can level the weapons and carry them over to different scenarios and heroes. There are some frustrations, for example the world map exploration is too grindy at times, since the neutral packs are fucking everywhere and they multiply like flies. After a while I found myself rolling with the "quick combat" option almost always on, which is shame.
The big plus compared to Homam3 is the story. In Homam3 the campaign story is the typical high-fantasy inanity, but here the Hungarians tried to make things a bit more interesting, so the campaigns are much more colourful. Especially the Necropolis campaign is very good. And of course the game is absolutely gorgeous, after the atrocious WoW-ized art direction of Homam5 the esthetics is back to the roots.

So for this price I'd definitely recommend it, unless you're too emotionally attached to the way the old Homam worked.

  16. Thanks for the writeup, I might hop on it. Like Metro mentioned it's possible it'll go on a steeper discount during the summer sale, buuuut a daily deal this close to the summer sale? Not sure the discount would be much different. Might creep up to 66% but I doubt Ubisoft would jump it to the whole 75% enchilada that fast.

Edit: Not entirely sure about this one in particular Sser, but I know Ubisoft has removed/reduced the always online from most (All?) of their games that had it. I think this one is now like Anno 2070, where you can play if your internet craps out but you lose access to the persistent account stuff.

Yep, although in Homam6 the persistent features have bigger role in the game than those in Anno so if you're playing offline, it feels a bit more limited than in Anno.

Tomb Raider is a decent interactive movie from what I heard. I was waiting on $20, so $25 might be close enough... not sure yet.

Homm6 is broken. If you buy the gold version you can't play the main campaign, just the DLC. I guess ubisoft released an update that broke their game. And uplay sucks dick. I shouldn't have bought it.

Apparently that's not the first time it happened, took them a whole weekend to fix it the last time. Oh Ubi

And sure MHC, I'll be sending the little men made of cubes in your general direction.

"Ubisoft" is enough to make me not even begin to make myself interested.

Jedi Knight II is $3.39 and there's a general JK collection also. I'd expect to see it for $2.50 in Summer Sale though.

I've just read through the Steam forum and Jeeeesus holy Christ. Fucking unbelievable.
I bought this game on release but I had to wait three months for them to make the game at least finishable.
It's been 18 months now and they still haven't got their shit together.
I feel almost bad I recommended this thing. Well hopefully they fix it soon and hopefully you'll have fun with the game despite all this.

If you like watching Crispy asses waggling towards the camera then Tomb Raider will be your thing. Otherwise, don't bother.
