About to try first time Mission 7. Known as "battle of tears"

 

Grinding skirmish will only give XP and money. XP isn't too overpowering in moderate amounts (there is one class upgrade level which is a big boost, but you get it pretty soon anyway), and the money only lets upgrade stuff that is unlocked as you progress the story.

The DLC unlocks mega-powerful weapons that are competitive with the endgame weapons of the campaign, so getting them early will ruin balance.

You've seen nothing, there are even concentration camps later on. And they actually call them "Concentration Camps".

Japs have a lot more freedom than western devs to tackle things like this, shame that they do it in such ~UGUUU~ way...

I'm enjoying that the game isn't super blunt on the anti-racism. If it had been a Western game (see Shadowrun: Dragonfall, Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey) Welkins would have been disgusted and abhorred and given a long speech about the evils of racial prejudice. In this he's more like "Shut up and get along, we have a war to fight".

 

I sure hope you guys ate all the veggies in your plate. Or Largo is going to show up at night and shove a Theimer M20R up your ass.

 

The aforementioned concentration camp bit actually is a very good showing, particularly its end. Ain't got time to bleeding heart.


I think it bears saying again that the game has an amazing soundtrack.

 

I am already tired of spending 2/3s of my battles watching reaction fire. Please tell me there's a setting to change the time I spend on this.

How much are you missing out on if you just skip all the weaboo cutscenes?

Also, is it possible to paint yourself into a corner by losing too many dudes or spending your resources unwisely so you need to restart?
