Has anyone been able to get a refund on a game purchased more than 14 days ago? I am considering refunding some crap from the Winter Sale that I only played for 30 minutes.

The information in this article was gathered with the help of the tool Steam Spy that I’ve developed. Steam Spy acts a bit like an automated exit poll — it queries random user profiles to then extrapolate this data and create a whole picture. This method has its limitations, but it is pretty accurate for owners’ data and usage patterns.

An interesting article about STEAM usage per country. Like 28% of STEAM users are from USA. China 4% etc...

Chinese have to get written consent to use steam from their Emperor so that shouldn't surprise anyone.

Where all those thousands games are come from, I wonder. Well, at least it's not the app store level (500 new 'games' per day) yet and looks like Valve guys care discoverability than Apple and Google.

I wonder if the median playtime is the logic behind the decision of gaming companies to release more and more mobile crap.

The more back in time you go, the higher the user score.

Playtime increased as Metascore decreased, which means people didn't play old games yet gave them high scores.

That probably means everything sucks and gaming is dead, or something like that.

It's just the result of the explosion of shovelware on Steam in the last few years.

Ah, note that gameplay time tracking feature was introduced in March 2009.

That post seems a bit too conveniently inflammatory.

That post doesn't reveal anything that isn't intuitively obvious:

    - They have an 'idea' for Half Life 3. A completed script means nothing for a project that's stalled so long.
    - They make shitloads of money through TF2, DoTA2, etc.
    - They make shitloads of money through Steam sales.
    - Because of the previous two facts they have zero need to develop/publish games with any form of regularity.

The next title you see from Valve will probably be L4D3 with some form of F2P/microtransaction gimmick.

This makes me suspicious. I kept an eye on TF2 for all of last year and the start of this one, and Valve's support for the game is nonexistant beyond giving the Bare Minimum Support needed to not kill off the game so that their cash tap doesn't run dry.

But then again, "most people are shitheads" rings all too true. I've listened in on talks where people are casually discussing dropping hundreds on dollars on crates over the weekend to try to get a particular hat with a particular unusual effect...and the last TF2 update did nothing except add another cash grab scheme.
