I actually thought Torment's ending was very well done, not the gameplay sections leading to it (those were forgettable), having all that power and still having to face the inevitability of your own mortality or immortality depending on how it played out, it fitted right in with the theme of Torment being intended as a story instead of a game (at least in my mind).

One of the things i'm waiting to see from the new Torment game is if they will subvert as many fantasy/scifi tropes as they did in the first game or if they will just play it as safe as they are doing with WL2.

Codex 2014 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Serpent in the Staglands Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Torment was very main character centric, so I felt that the lack of ending slides was ok. On the other hand in fallout your character is a carte blanche in the beginning and the game is more about changing the people and settlements around you rather than carving your personal path through the world of planes.

Did anybody try to see what happens when you kill too many civilians ?

Angela will leave your party and Vargas will whine at you on the radio, if you keep doing it you become an enemy of the desert rangers.

Does that mean I could work for one of the gangs or something instead, if I turn on the Desert Rangers? What happens to the main quest line, does it break like in Morrowind or continue on but unassisted?

Being a Desert Ranger would make going rogue seem pretty schizophrenic, if it's even a possibility. RPG's should start you out in a neutral position, something like a mercenary or a stranger in a new land.

I always restarted after he called and she left. But now it seems that he doesn't follow through, killed everyone and he just talked shit on the radio, so I went to the citadel and killed all the rangers, Vargas himself is overseer mode, and yes he'll still answer your calls even after you've killed every other ranger..
And damn do they ever give good xp.. 500 per head..

So I guess it isn't fully implemented yet.

You're supposed to get some sort of non-standard endgame situation. I'm not sure exactly what they have planned.

They should all start with you having amnesia and waking up not knowing who you are.

They could just do like Morrowind when you kill essential npc, get a message that you fucked up, broke main quest and can continue playing on pointlessly.

It doesn't have to be that extreme. Fallout and Arcanum both have you enter a world where you're an unaffiliated stranger, be it through emerging from a vault or through a blimp crash on a new continent. It avoids the dissonance that can come from playing a Desert Ranger/Grey Warden/etc.

Are they going to change that one-word-based dialogue system?

    He talked about Onholyservicebound comment:
    Show Spoiler
Random encounters will have Rangers instead of Bandits and you are able to join one of the factions and you get an ending slider after destroying the Desert Rangers. Kinda sucks you will not be able to travel outside of the Arizona[?] region to LA I think if you do that tho.

Whoops, I totally forgot about this. Here's the archived video (starts at 5:30):

I imagine there'll be a Kickstarter update about it soon.

Wow, fantastic video! :D The beginning really feels like Fallout too.

Brian showed lots of gameplay footage in his presentation starting from around 24:00. Examples of reactivity and also exclusive footage from the LA section of the game. Looks really good.

    Ok so :
    • The beginning video is great. It has it's own vibe and atmosphere
    • If you talk with Vargas with Angela, he may order her to stay
    • LA is better than Arziona
    • After going rogue player can ally one of the rangers enemy to destroy then
    • There will be few middle endings not 1 as stated before
    • There are 560 000 words in W2, more than in LotR, and they are still writing new
