Nah, to me it looks like they've improved combat from Witcher 2:

    -Better targeting system.

-Faster sword animations from Geralt (both regular attacks and counterattacks/ripostes).

-Sidestepping/dodging is much more preferable to rolling around.

-Seemingly using signs is better integrated into combat.

-More gore (always welcome as far as I'm concerned).

Overall, it looks a lot more fluid than Witcher 2, definitely like what I'm seeing so far.

P.S. Skyrim has some of the most banalshitboring combat I've ever seen, Witcher 2 is better in that regard by default.

Inventory system looks like it might be neater. Pft to the game recommending what potions might help you to kill the quest monster though.

Wow, the combat with the brigants looks much more fluid this time around. You appear to have much more options than just rolling around and their chains can be used to great effect.

On the flipside I am not impressed by tracking mechanics. Also the fight with the griffin looked like a poor man's Dark Souls boss. And that final cutscene - I hope it's there just for this presentation.

    Also, dialogue "trees". :/

Then again, the music is fantastic; art design is top-notch, and generally there are signs of some improvement in all areas.

Overall, I am left with hesitant :bounce:

If i remember correclty, CDPR said they'll make a proper PC friendly grid-based inventory this time. So don't judge the UI utill we see some PC footage.

EDIT: Shit, it actually has a grid for items. Ok, i didn't expect it to look that bad. My bad. The UI is shit indeed.

That conversation seemed to hint at it. Though it would be funny if players went to all the effort to backtrack to her later and it turned out she wasn't bangable. :P

Yeah, like I said. When you make The Witcher 1's UI look good, you know you've done fucked up badly.

I literally cannot think of another major RPG with a grid like that. Not a single one. Witcher 2 had a list though. It succeeded in being worse that TW1's, which had one of the most atrocious UIs in history.

He cut that guy in half, thus, it's already better than Witcher 2.

No, that was the first wish (the "exorcism" that Dandelion said some priest or druid told him in secret, and was actually "go fuck yourself" in old language).

The second wish was that guard in prison that blow up.

And the last wish was Geralt wishing something that made Djini leave he and Yen alone. Yennefer said afterwards "I don't think it's even possible", and both of them were sterile because of magic, so I'm of the opinion that he wished to have a child with Yennefer (so Djini would need to wait 9 months for revange and I guess it's too long). Which would also make sense because then they got Ciri as sort-of daughter.

As long as the mouse doesn't inexplicably shit itself and lag into oblivion when in a menu, I'll be happy. TW2 UI would have been slightly usable if it weren't for that.

Saw the gameplay snippet and noticed:

Geralt is able to cast signs right after attacking unlike before.

Geralt responds quicker in general, and his moves appear quicker too. Maybe the damned input lag is finally gone.

The side and back dash looks better than the rolling even if they are both fundamentally the same. Wonder if one can perform a slashing move at the end of a dash as well.

Didn't spot a pirouette though CDPR seemed to allude it would be back from Witcher 1.

Hopefully one can still cancel attacks by blocking or rolling.

Despite improvements I'm still keeping my expectations low until CDPR demonstrates it understands the fundamental flaws of Witcher 2's combat. They claimed arkham asylum and demon's souls as inspirations despite the combat system of each game being fundamentally different. By combining elements of the combat systems of its inspirations, it's no wonder Witcher 2's combat is nowhere as satisfying as either of aforementioned games.

The arkham games revolve around multiple low threat enemies attacking aggressively without a pattern to fuel your combos. If the combat had revolved around dodging instead of heavily countering attacks, it would have begun to resemble the roll-centric Witcher 2 combat. On the other demon's souls' combat was far more slow paced and deliberate, revolving around reading attack patterns of enemies that were far more of a threat.

For the game's sake, I hope they've made up their mind about how the combat flows this time around.

huh but they showed GRID inventory.
We don't really know how it feels with M+K so for now taking about it is pointless.

But yeah to me it looks "busy"

Also we should take note that game still has 9 months to complete. Time in which some dev could create completely new game.
