Actually, rumor has it that D'Astous and Mario Aguera, the former THI4F director that was also fired halfway through the trainwreck, were trying to create a much more faithful sequel with even improvements to the series stealth system, like light and sound meters ala Chaos Theory. Someone at Square probably thought this wouldn't sell well and asked them to remove it and remake the whole thing to be more on par with Dishonored, which is probably considered by them to be the closest a contemporary game can ever get to the original Thief games. From then on, it went nosedive downhill.

At least that's the theory I've seen more than once on TTLG and neofag. There was an Eidos Montreal employee that told them that Mario Aguera was chosen to be the game's director because he was the resident Thief specialist, but was later replaced by some Nicolas Cantin:

Is that really a rumor or just someone's theory?

Why do people keep bringing up Dishonored? The only thing it had in common with Thief is they are both utilize first person viewpoints.

Otherwise they are totally different types of games. To start with, in Dishonored you 'sneak' by entering crouch mode. Crouch, and you become invisible. Not to mention you can cut your way through the entire game, and can somehow dodge bullets without the use of any supernatural powers.

Directors are usually not "let go" because they managed a project really well, either. Sounds like another Indoctrination Theory there.

Well, in THIAF you become invisible by whooshing. Whoosh, and you become invisible. Not to mention that you can blackjack your way through the entire game, and somehow have the AI keep missing you and your presence without the use of focus or Whoosh.

Hmmmmm, I think I see why people keep making the comparing.

OMG, this game is hack and slash with a blackjack. He's literally running into guards' faces with a blackjack and winning. Fights and yelling don't attract nearby guards.

EDIT: the guy who complained about voice acting was right - it's amateurish..

EDIT 2: Fuck me, the baron is a retarded character.

So much for the whole "You can play with the Focus turned off!" bullshit.

I'm not 100% sure, but it seemed that way (because the player was given 4 objectives to spot 4 symbols, and after that an objective to 'solve the puzzle').

On the other hand, it's very funny watching players get stuck on the staircase 'puzzle' xD This seems to be the hardest level yet

Wow I've just witnessed something truly hilarious.
Gorrett gets into a room and gets detected IN THE DARK by three or so maids. He runs around and hides behind some furniture almost in plain sight of a maid, and they fucking lose his trail right there!

I don't know how far those who stream are in the game but for now every level i see is the same visually. They all have this green/gray filter so even though there is a ruin part, a city part and a mansion part they all feel the same. Will this game have its own The Sword moment?
