It sounds like another take on Dishonored instead of another take on Deadly Shadows.

 

They are probably swearing using real swear words. So childish grim/dark...

 

So they have done away with the accents too. Wouldn't want to scare the 14 year old core audience. "Hey man what is this shit, why is everybody talking funny, this fucking Shakespeare or some shit man, lol fucking lame, they already force me to read that shit in school, I don't need to pay for that".

 

Nothing would showcase their incompetence more than having to create a "true" sequel and they know it.

That preview was seriously painful to read. It literally screamed 'English major' - so many long-winded sentences and big words that say just about fuck all.

No place for different accents in the perfidious albion that is the city. The irish have been purged by the bigot baron and peace has been restored to the grorious reboot.

 

This is simply some gang creating jobs for each other. It's got nothing to do with Thief and Russell, and they don't want it to have anything to do with Thief and Russell. The game will probably be decent so they can collect some money and bonuses, but will surely be a rape of the franchise and an inadequate Thief tale for a fan of the series.

For fuck's sake. I am at a loss for words. Garret IS Stephen Russell. Why the fuck didn't they just create a new protagonist? And then they say, they are scrapping the peculiar linguistics of Thief and tone down supernatural elements. What's left? Why call it Thief at all? Call it fucking Slayer's Doctrine and go jump off a fucking cliff.

 

Wait, they're getting rid of the word taffer?

Jesus man, it's like the DmC reboot all over again. Except only worse, because I actually gave a shit about Thief.

 

Fuck man I thought Grayson was bad, but this so many words to say something so simple.

 

Just watched the Deadly Shadows trailer again on youtube. Always had a soft spot for that game despite its many shortcomings. DS gets a lot of flack but man we will all wish it was 2004 again when that Thiaf abomination comes out.

Do they really think just slapping THIEF on the game makes it a Thief game WHEN YOU LITERALLY TAKE ALL THE PARTS THAT MADE IT A THIEF GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!









I'm fine now, just had to vent... don't know why I still fume when I read each new piece of information on this thing.... Thief is just one of those defining games that I felt was the future of what computer games could be.

 

Whats the hardon for thief 2 anyway? Apart from life of the party, there is not much things in T2 that stand up against Thief Gold.

Translation: Game won't tell us why Garrett left the city. 'I had my reasons' or somesuch will be used to seal that topic up.

Fact: Nobody even tried to give us a good look at the City itself in the Thief series until Thief 3. Until then we only heard of it through circumstantial evidence and hearsay. What we did get, however, was a fantastic look at some of the Factions that live in the City, and now those same factions are being neutered because Eidos Montreal can't into proper writing.

It's not what we're using it for that is causing us 'purists' to squirm, or rage, or dismiss this whole ordeal of a game design as rubbish, it's the fact that we have to use it to begin with.

IIRC, you could steal earrings from noble earlobes as early as Thief 3. No Focus required.

Ah, here is where things go to hell. Eidos Montreal is basing their design decisions on the 'general consensus' that Thief 2 is better than Thief 1. I'll agree that Thief 2 is better than Thief 1 - but not Thief Gold. Thief Gold is a revamp of Thief 1, and emerges as the better of the two games as a result. Thief 2 was SO BADLY in need of a similar revamp, yet people praise it to high heavens for its unfinished state. The gameplay, pacing and level design could be improved, and yet everyone seems to like facing the same old tired enemies in the same old tired environment time and time again?

Derpers gotta derp. With rope arrows you could look wherever you wanted to look. In first-person. No one complained. In Thief 3, however, we had the climbing gloves, and using those SEVERALY hampered what you could see. And yet, they base their decisions, once again, on the worst possible example of many.

 

It's funny how you literally have to translate that gibberish in order to get some actual information out of it.

 

I only played Thief Gold but i don't think this is true. If you take all the extra levels in TG and the level improvements, Thief 1 is still better overall.

 

Kinda like shit tests from women,because game journos are gold diggers at their core.
