Some potential problems:

The setting, especially with that song, is soporific.

There is almost none social interaction.

There is no visible character progression.

Presentation looks bland and cumbersome but the game otherwise sounds interesting. Particularly the isometric view point isn't doing anything for me. And since there won't be combat, what use does it really have? It's not like the visuals are stunning anyway. This could benefit from a more adventure game oriented presentation, with close up scenes from a variety of angles with simpler but more characteristical scenes. Basically an AGS adventure with stat driven RP gameplay.

I'm a big fan of sci-fi games and it'd be nice to have one that's not so combat-centric. I'm playing Star Control II for the first time recently and it really scratched the itch for something like this game. I hope it works out well!
