Years ago I started developing a tool to up the level of all enemies according to Rules As Written (RAW), including skills, abilities, whatever. But I never finished it. Is there any interest in this?

Updated thread title.

The answer is yes!

(I've taken this to PMs for the time being, until I announce what I'm going to announce)

:salute: Code on!

(Also, nice that you're using git, I absolutely adore this tool; I'm using it in Emacs for almost everything I write and I don't even code ;))

Some progress:

Most of my time has been spent on updating the spreadsheets I used to work out the problem, and switching over from .NET+SQL to WSH (Windows Scripting Host) for the tool. .NET was just too much work.

I've uploaded what I have so far.

I'd say I'm about half-way done. I haven't really touched feats and skills yet, so those still have to be done. Lastly I will need to write the output file as currently the tool only displays values.

Enjoy.

Another thought - how about Spell Lists for casters?

Another helpful feature might be selective one-upping based on factions. So for instance you might bump up the Moathouse by 1, Greater Temple by 3, while leaving your NPC followers as-is.

Are spells recorded in protos? I completely forgot about those.

Limiting to faction could be done. How are factions recorded in protos?

Check out the Co8 WorldBuilder, is has a pretty good protos editor with a complete proto field breakdown. It's pretty straightforward, although you have to figure out the faction enumeration from elsewhere (iirc it's done indirectly via looking at the reputations mesfile, or you can use the search tool to look up which critters have a faction in common).

What's new?

Also, you don't really have to manually specify hit points, the game calculates it on the fly if you leave it blank.

Almost done implementing skills. Started working on spells. System for reading protos.tab is in place, except for the vertical tab characters which I will have to look at. There are now additional table dividers to separate each skill/class/whatever. Added a PRNG for when choosing skills/feats/whatever. Other minor changes.

Since Grunker poked his head here:
What are your thoughts on hybridizing with Pathfinder? This is definitely something I'd like to support under a House Rules options menu...

ToEE the engine or ToEE the module? Because if you mean the former, that can be altered... and the latter too I guess :P

I was just thinking that I could re-use most of my code and write a RAW checker. I.e. flag characters for RAW violations.

Sitra Achara said Co8 already has a rules lawyer, but there seem to be a shitload of errors.

You see, there's no way to write a tool for upgrading characters when the base values are fucked.
