Voodoo Extreme has made a list of top 10 games of 2006. Here are the RPGs:

10) BioShock from Irrational Games
BioShock, you say? Why does that name ring a bell? Well, if the name sounds familiar it's because it's the spiritual successor to another game that ended with Shock and was developed by Irrational. Can you guess what it was? You betcha!

    5) Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion from Bethesda
Got bloom? Get some! Bethesda is poised to dethrone Bioware as kings of the RPG world with The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion for both the PC and Xbox 360. Promising dozens of hours of play, state of the art graphics and highly customizable gameplay, Oblivion just may obliterate the competition for best RPG of 2006.

    2) HellGate London from Flagship Studios
Anyone know who Bill Roper is? Of course you do. He's the Diablo dude! Him and many ex-Blizzard folk jumped ship to form Flagship Studios and their first title is called HellGate: London which is set in a post-apocalyptic world where demons have invaded the earth and your job is to stop them. It's a first person shooter with tons of role playing elements. Just imagine Diablo, but with guns, a first person view and kick ass graphics. Aww, yeah!
Sadly, Gothic 3 didn't make the list, although Stalker and Duke Nukem Forever did. Btw, since when are "dozens of hours of play" a great thing?

Maybe thats because neither NWN2 nor DragonAge would be released in 2006?

I hate the style, the expression and the raw fallacy that it illustrates.

    Typical big-ass lickers.

They are a great thing if it all keeps being interesting from beginning to end. Frankly, I love a big 'epic' adventure/world a lot more than some short-lived NwN-module for example.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say VD was probably thinking "...as opposed to hundreds of hours of play.", which used to be Bethesda's unofficial byline.

Well, "dozens of hours of play" is better than "one dozen hours of play." Dozens implies that you're getting somewhere between 24 and 204 hours of play. Anything less is "hours of play" and anything more is "hundreds of hours of play."

NWN2 is scheduled for the 1st half of 2006. No idea about DA, though.

No, both are in the list. Of course if VD actually read the list, he would know that it is a top 20 list. Here is the start of the article. The rest of you that missed the <<-Back to #11-20 at the top of the article should have your eyes checked as well.

Oh and happy holidays folks. ;)

Spending 24 hours staring at pretty graphics with shitty mods that add pillow makers and hotdog hats = best RPG experience of the year.

"a post-apocalyptic world where demons have invaded the earth and your job is to stop them."

Wouldn't that just be an apocalyptic world, period???

Also, they don't offer dozens of hours of play unless they have redefined dozen to mean 10. Wouldn't surprise me.

Also, 20 hours for the average braindead morrowing player means 10-15 hours for socalled normals.

Oblivion is looking more and mroe like it is literally just a really long, stupid movie.

Maybe there was already an apocalypse, and because it sucked so much you don't want to go through all that shit one more time.

And then there's the opposite, "single digits of hours of play" like Fallout...

Any list like this that list game(s) that aren't even coming out in a certain year is just plain retarded.
