Game News Torment Kickstarter Update #4: Legacies and Cults

You dont fucking need more coders and modelers. You need those that you have to produce more of the content.
Then you leverage the amount of new content with production staff and their capabilities of churning it all out in specific amount of time.
This is what pre-production fucking means.

Writing fucking means that a writer will create a new quest, a new location for that quest, or use those that already exist. That he will create more consequences for your actions! More dialogue, more NPCs involved in different ways.
That he will invent some Cults, all with important NPCs and quests and consequences.
What the fuck? Are you just thinking they are going to type more text that is going to be in the journal?

I wont argue with that because i have no idea how a game developing team works.
OOOh? Indeed?

but you think you should argue non the less? How surprising!

Well, if Fargo was a smart man, he would make a NWN/NWN2 type of game (with editors) in the new Numenera setting.
Especially seeing as given (presumably) no D&D style licensing problems, the best user-created mods (Darkness over Daggerford) could easily be released commercially through InXile, which would drive up quality and serve as a leg up for aspiring indie developers (who might not yet be quite up to delivering a full standalone project on their own). (Not to mention the core campaign being actually good would be a rather welcome bonus.) They'd probably want to have a separate project for that kind of platform, though.

Obsidian could do it in their setting.

I just really want another NWN/NWN2 like game+editor but without shit combat.

In "theory" we will have this in Wasteland 2, but are stuck with a PA setting as well as the combat/skill mechanics.

I just want something more robust (as in defining your own rules) as well as setting.

The FRUA community has pulled this off so far, but I'd like that game moved into the 21st century.

Dont you guys understand that NWN was so bad because resources were funneled into all that moding tools?

I would very much like to get more info on the legacies.
What are they exactly, as in what names do they have, or a specific function and how do they correspond to Tides.

I also think that if Fargo would throw in his 100.000 it will look damn nice.
Of course i believe he will put in the money as he said - but it would be much more effective and great to actually see it added to kickstarter funds.

it would sure reverberate across the media in good ways man.

- especially if he would throw it in around 2,4 and so made next stretch goal achieved.

Mm, I like the idea of cults. I just hope they don't bite off more than they can chew. More factions, more cults, more legacies, more followers, etc. Sounds like a gigantic task to design and implement all that in a meaningful way.

It can't be worse than Project Eternity's second city and megadungeon.

I'm really interested to see how this "Modular" design thing is going to work, from what I can gather they have the main plot mapped out. But it's designed in such a way as different writers can add either main elements or side elements into the journey. I wonder if that was just PR kickstarter blurb or if they actually have it figured out that much already.

That basically what all games do. People write for different areas. Like MCA did New Reno in Fallout 2. Obviously other people contributed and added stuff to it too.

Since they have a "planar" style thing going they may provide multiple areas you can access depending on your tides and legacy which can provide different solutions to a problem you need solved. If that makes sense.

Take portal to Eternity. Detonate one-billion-year-old thermonuclear device. Take portal back. I'm all for this! It'll be the next best thing to shitting all over Forgotten Realms.
