Man, so much butthurt about the combat system in a game that isn't about combat. +M

At least it's over now though and the codex is at peace. Yay for TB in Torment and Wasteland. Yay for RTwP in Project Eternity. ;)

The Codex would have imploded if RTwP would have won.

tb/rtwp aside, have there been any signals as to what inXile are gonna be kickstarting come the spring? im assuming they're wanting to keep their design team in the money again.

If Wasteland 2 sells well they wont need to? Nah they'll kickstart something probably.

I'd expect a Kickstarter for Wasteland 3 some time next year.

What a weirdo. About as weird as people who hate action games but play role playing action games for the role playing. Fucking role playing gamers.

Glad to know there is a commitment to make combat more fun and engaging. More fun and engagement is good.

God I hate RTwP, and I hope to enjoy Project Eternity despite its inclusion.

To be honest I am not a particular opponent of RTwP - some of the best games I've played sport that system (BG2, for example). But still, considering the amount of butthurt, the ill-argued assumptions and opinions on the part of RTwP crowd I am kinda glad it ended the way it did. It's heart-warming when unwashed masses don't get their way for once. And I am also happy that devs recognize inherent storytelling value in good combat design. Here's one hoping that we will see some meaningful C&C achieved through combat engine.

    Also this:

    is very good news.

Aesthetically for "new PST" I would prefer RTwP, but aesthetics is such a small thing I never was bothered by what type of combat Numenera would turn out to have in begin with. Another TB game is always welcome, and a TB game which promises combat encounters flowing gracefully into and out of quests and exploration and no trash combat is double welcome. I am still waiting for InXile to prove themselves though. Good games aren't made with nice words or press releases. They are not just speaking nice though, but also speak right and true and from experience, so I really want to believe W2 and Numenera will be great.

I don't think TB or RTwP are necessarily superior to each other, they're just different tools for different types of games. I don't even have a problem with RTwP RPGs, and I wouldn't have cared if Numenera ended up RTwP because combat is such a minor part of what PST was and I expected that to be true of this game as well. So on the whole, this entire debate has been more amusing than anything else for me.

I am a little glad that TB won just because some of the people pushing for RTwP seem like morons who understand nothing about game design.

I couldn't figure out a way to embed the video and have it start at the time I wanted, so I just pasted the link.

"Very essence" is my favorite part. Such a great flair for the dramatic.
