For those who don't know the engine/game, here is the description as given on its homepage.

Obviously, the emphasis is not on graphics or first-person squad-based stealth action. If you like roguelikes or the top-down, 2d, turn-based CRPG's that disappeared in the early 90's then this is for you. [...] It is specifically modeled after Ultima V, so if you've played that game then this should be familiar.
Definitely something for the graphic whores among you rogue-likers out there. Here's a screenshot for your viewing pleasure. This Version was released on 04 November 2007.
You know, while I don't think any specific newspost is superfluous, especially not this one, the front page is getting cluttered. Is this news-posting-frequency continues, could we consider a new layout?

This game sounds interesting, I might try it. Cheers :)

I'm pretty sure things will calm down given a little time - I do not believe that I or any of my fellow new newsposters are going to keep trucking along at a pace of 3 or more items a day. I think I'll also try to keep future newsposts a little shorter.

That being said, there are quite a lot of interesting (if a little obscure) games that haven't had any news in a while despite being actively developed or that even have not been mentioned on the codex at all, so I hope I won't run out of steam too soon.

Yes, and I commend you for that: I never expected a game where you get to be a coffee-machine existed. Now my long-time dream can finally come true. Keep up the good work.

I don't even know if you were being sarcastic in your post on that coffe-machine on legs game. Ok, I realize you haven't been waiting for it all your life, but did you hate or like those news?

I love it! Strange but great! And the recent news style: brilliant (except what I said - there's a lot of it and the general layout is not perfect). I always thought the codex news focused a lot on mainstream (shitty) games, but I assumed there was nothing else around. I fully support and applaud your (and the other newsposters') efforts to bring less well-known games to our attention. Good work, seriously.

I know I'm a crazy, easily nostalgic guy, but screenshots like that one on the main page still give me a woody.

    I'm meaning this one here.

It makes me sigh with longing for a long gone era.

(Also: I can't believe I haven't played the crap out of this game yet.)

The graphics remind me of the Exile games from Spiderweb.

This looks like fun, but it is kind of funny that what is probably the weakest part of the old Ultimas (IV, V) is the combat, which is basically the center of any roguelike game. Still, nice to see that tile art in a game again! W00t!

A rogue like that doesn't look like complete shit? I never knew such a thing existed!

We'll see if we can improve the front page somehow.

The Codex actually used to have fairly good coverage of rogue-likes. That all died when Saint went away. The only rules for posting about something were that it had to be a PC game and it had to be some-what interesting to a niche RPG focussed audience. In otherwords, games with RPG elements that maybe provided something a little more than others. And yeah, mixed in with the typical mainstream news.

Thanks for the reminder had forgotten about this game. Will have to go check it out again. Reminds of how much I had missed having Saint around to post about the roguelikes
