Vampire Bloodlines mods/fixes

I'm thinking about giving Bloodlines another go and seem to recall that there are two major fix packs. One is called an unofficial patch and the other is from wesp or something like that. I'm not looking for an overhaul of the gameplay, just bug and "broken mechics" fixes.

Something else I noticed is that there are a few texture pack mods, but both seem to change the game beyond its visuals. Does anyone know what the best texture pack is?

thanks

I just use the "basic" version of the unofficial patch:
http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php

During installation you can choose between basic and plus modes, basic being mostly fixes. Haven't come by any worthwhile texture mods that don't change the whole game or aren't porn oriented. I seem to recall an engine tweak of sorts that added modern graphical effects, but I forgot what it was called.

Yes, Wesp's patch, basic or full depending on if you like the extras in full, is all you need. Anything else promising is either not finished yet or not compatible.

I'd love to give the game another runthrough. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get more than a black screen with 'your monitor can't play this resolution' (despite setting the res well within the monitor's limts, and having played the game a LOT using that monitor before) ever since upgrading my video card to GTX280. I've tried different drivers, but it seems to be a hard incompatibility:-(

It seems that nvidia drivers suck ass yet again. Game works fine on my hd4850 even on W7. Only issue in W7 is I get a black screen when the intro clips play (the logos and shit), and on WINE shader don't work properly. Have you tried the resolution patcher and played with different resolutions?

what resolution are you using? don't you have to hack in widescreen, maybe that got fucked up.

Plus patch is much better because it adds what there should be in the first place. It just restores things (and rebalances) from game files that were not included in the final version.

Also if u have new computer u must install enbseries which updates graphic so it looks like modern games (or even better after some .ini changes).

If you don't want to change enbseries.ini yourself you can use mine, though u may change something later:

Except for that katana + crossbow you get from the chinese vampire a little into the game.

No it isn't a widescreen problem - and I don't think it is a resolution problem (I tried forcing the resolution to a few different ranges I know the monitor can handle). As I said, I've played it just fine on this monitor before - the only thing that changed was the graphics card.

Stick to the official 1.2 patch. Even the basic version of Wesp restores some dialogue lines that just don't fit and were obviously cut for a reason.

Not true. My GTS250 on Win7-64 with 196.21 drivers plays the game perfectly without any issues at 1440x900, forcing 8xAA/16xAS on nHancer.

So you're suggesting he should put up with plenty of bugs rather than a few lines here and there that may not fit? What lines are you even talking about, by the way?

The only major bug in Bloodlines that I can think of is the crash at the Society of Leopold. It's fixed in the official patch.

Knox's first lines were changed from fanboyish "OMG, you are a vampire SO KEWL" to reserved "Can I help you with anything?". The problem is that he still automatically initiates the conversation when you get close to him, even though the new dialogue suggests that you're the one who started talking to him.

Another case is a new line in Jack's tutorial dialogue, in which he asks you to move outside, since it's "stuffy in here". I guess the conversation was initially supposed to start before you left the theater, but that was changed during the development, and the line was cut. It doesn't make any sense right now.

Really? He still approached my nosferatu with a "zomg you're a Nos, aren't you? Awesome!"

Solution: install OS that isn't shit.

What? About W7? Game works fine there. About Linux? Game works fine there as well, problems being mostly due to GLSL bugs with ATI drivers.

Cool. Let me know. I've been a bit spoiled by recent titles, so any anything that updates the visuals would be great. Is there anything that adds model/skin damage to the PC or NPCs?
