World of Darkness Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 from Hardsuit Labs and Brian Mitsoda

The trailer feels really fake, feels even less impressive than before. Only looking forward to the soundtrack at this point

 

Can't tell if they're trying too hard to hit the same notes as the first game, or if it's just the fanservice-y trailers. Is that woman in the club their version of the flirty vampire waifu? Then they are setting themselves up to fail. They won't beat Tourette. And I still can't get over "Prince Cross". Next we'll meet the new Anarch leader Tens Fernandez, the Nosferatu Bernhart Zung, and comic relief character Officer Honk.
And the character/face models look really awkward.

 

Some models felt like they were made out of plastic, a lot of animations were awkward, blood vfx was terrible... Can get past all that if it turns out to be half the rpg Bloodlines was. Liked the vibe of the trailer and they don't seem to shy away from at least some degree of perversion and violence, which is good news for everyone here!

 

The Witcher 2 looks much better and is 10 years older than this game

 

The lighting is pure ass in TW2. Your precious Triss model looks like shiny metal doll instead of real human.

 

The downgrade suggests this is real.

Witcher 2 was made by some of the best artists in the biz and benefited from the cost of Polish labor.

Compare BL2 to uh... Alpha Protocol.

It still holds up. Because the overall graphic quality of a game is more of the sum of its parts. It's about artistic direction.

 

Or it was all CGI.

 

It's all cg but I know what you mean.

 

I have my doubts that Schaffer will replicate success of his past work. He said it himself, when he wrote soundtrack for bloodlines his life was in a black line and that influenced his work, infused with his emotions he made dark and moody themes.

Right now he is old, successful and content, I don't expect a man like that writing something like this:

 

Wasn't the Bloodlines ST even more lifted than Fallout's?

 

Ninjerk only main menu theme afaik.

 

Nothing can beat Fallout on that. Bloodlines just had a bunch of licensed music and main menu sounding like a Massive Attack rip-off but that's because Troika was unable to license the original track.

 

ppl don't really include the club themes (which i think are lifted) in the ost tbh

 

That’s a tall order, not sure how you could do that short if just renaming the ripped files.

 

I could swear when I played it that there was a somewhat obscure YT video with side-by-side comparisons of the Bloodlines tracks in particular but I can't easily find it now.

 

Witcher 3 downgrade still looked good, it wasnt as good but it was a good looking game, this is looking worse than Vampyr or Greedfall, the face of the Lex Luthor/Arthur Fleck insert is really shit, go on youtube and search for "Blender face modelling" and you will see stuff better than that.

That's some of the worst hair I've ever seen in a game. It looks like it's made of wax but oily at the same time. Maybe varnished wood that has been stapled to the head.

 

It's a cross-gen title, so of course it's going to look like ass. They all look like ass, remember PS3-PS4 cross-gen titles? Or Rise of the Tomb Raider?

 

Did anyone even think this wasn't made with the target group in mind - PnP players, mostly girls who follow the V5 rulebook:



Lest we forget. Even Damp is tailored with them in mind.

There was dithering in the shadows, but that was a small bother when the game looked like this almost nine years ago:

 

Witcher 2 was years ahead of its time, graphically. Great blend of high quality art and engine designed around high end PCs. Not constrained by lowest common denominator.

But Bloodlines 2 will look good too. Even if some of its aspects might not be completely 100% amazing.
