Muv-Luv Alternative has some of the cheesiest animation I've ever seen.
though, I honestly feel as though I've become a richer person having experienced it.

/me should probably see how Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Unlimited play out some time...

Holy fuck, you played Alternative without doing the first two games? Are you fucking retarded?! The whole point of the series is the transition from game to game!

Leave me be, the VN was bloody awesome, even with all the sections that felt rather forced. :M
And not knowing about all the things Takeru knew actually gave it a lot of charm.

fuck my life. :(

also what is this faggotry i hear about a uro no shoujo translation being unlikely?

this... this will not stand man. they fucking better. i'd rather prostitute myself to finance a translation myself than take one more fucking japanese lesson.

however since it's already out, can anyone tell me if this time around the "detective" work is less convoluted? some of those investigation scenes were fucking atrocious.

Obvious answers are obvious:
- Walkind Dead series (just don't expect an adventure game and keep in mind that it gets much better after the first episode);
- Under a Killing Moon (good adventure game too)
- Grim Fandango (also a good adventure game at the same time)

I just recently went through Remember11, by the same team that did Ever17 (And whose writer would go on to make 999). I can definitely add it to my recommend list.

Can't really go into it much without spoiling it, but I should warn you, it does leave a few things up to speculation. Although the mindscrew isn't as strong as say Ever17, and if you've played other games by this team/writer, you'll probably be able to anticipate some things ahead of time; it leaves a few things hanging, but with enough room to speculate.

Ending right when it reveals Keiko's psychotic personality is revealed to be still active and holding a baby over a cliff? You'd better believe I said, "Oh shit!"

There was also the Satoru thing at the very end, but I already got the bad ending that revealed that before.

I only played a few titles.
The first VN I played is about a highschool girl whose mission is to flirt and fuck another girls in all girls boarding school for rich people and shit.
Oh God I don't even :retarded:.

The other ones are Fate Stay Night and a grimdark/supernatural VN about a boy and female ghost/angel in hospital.
Don't ask me about the titles because there's no way I remember those abominations.

Do I did it wrong guys??

Is there anything else in VN beside the usual porns, animefaggotry, emotional engaging waifus, and superficial everything?
Yes I hear about the "masterpieces" such as True Remembrance, Ever, Air/Kanon, and shit.
Should I play them for the last time so I can finally understand "this art" like the people at 4chan? Or are they more or less the same like the ones I had played?
If yes, What masterpiece should I play?
Will it rape my sanity?
Why this kind of VN (or eroge?) is the "normal" ones (the majority too?:retarded: )?? And the truly normal VNs like 999, Phoenix Wright etc are very rare??

This shit is beyond fuck up even for my taste.
I can't believe some of my friends are loving these shiets and even educating people that there's nothing wrong about it.

Please enlighten me O Great Codexia. :salute:

I understand your sentiment, and I agree 'cause all VNs I've played are shit.
But I believe a few anime are great and worth to be called a gem, or at the very least they're good entertainment.

I really enjoyed Steins;Gate and Ever17 and I fucking hate anime.
How could you hate anime but like VNs?
Almost all the bad things in anime are brought from VN tropes like harem, waifu, moe and shit.
I partially blame the VN increased influence in anime industry as a source of anime decline.
A lot of 90s and early 2000 anime are cool, but now 95% of them are shit.
And that cosplayer girl in Steins;Gate is very annoying and need to be killed, also the protag guy is a loser manchild.

If you like those you should try 999 for the Nintendo DS.
Yes I played 999 a bit before, like I said normal (non eroge, minimal animefaggotry) VNs are cool for me.
Whereas the majority of them make me sick.

I guess because the two I've played are considered to be very good ones. I'm sure that 95% of them completely suck and are just those horrendous anime cliches ad nauseum/hentai games (or both) nut I ended up having a lot of fun with both of them and I have a very low tolerance for these sort of things.

Well, each to his own I guess. :salute:
I also believe there are a few gems even among the heap of shit.
That's why I'm curious about VN in the first place.
Maybe Steins;Gate is somewhat unique, but man I can't even stand that manchild and his loser friends.
How can the devs make those characters is beyond me.
Maybe I just need to re-read Berserk manga and forget this shit ever happened. :(

Christ, even that's devolved into shounen animu bullshit with the more recent chapters. Must I remind you of the fucking loli witch and the scrappy kid who wants to be the grand hokage greatest warrior in the land?

Yes the quality is degrading in the later works.
But it's still way better than a lot of things today.
I usually stop reading just after Golden Age chapter though.
This is depressing.
I'll just read some Monster tonight then.
Urasawa Naoki never fails me man.

They're mostly bad. Unfortunately they suffer from having to cater to despicable otaku filth a lot more than manga or anime do, which results in, well, crap. In any case, you won't really find good writing or characterization in them for the most part, but the "best" ones do a good job of actually using the medium to their advantage. This is why you'll get a lot of recommendations of Ever17, a good part of which consists of banalshitboring tedium and awful animu stereotyping, but the plotting is actually really clever overall, and manages to achieve something that would be impossible in a novel or movie. Whether you enjoy it though, depends on whether you're curious enough about the overarching mystery to suffer through the awful parts.

You can also try Kara no Shoujo, which even got some positive reactions on the Codex, and is more of an adventure game than something like The Walking Dead, so there's actually stuff to do and think about. It has porn, but most of it is tasteful or advances the plot, and the artwork is quite good.

My personal recommendation is Hanachirasu, not really well known, but I really enjoyed the narrative, you don't often get to play a violent rapist sociopath who betrays everyone and everything in pursuit of his singular obsession. Plus, it's pretty short, no waifus, brief and sparse sex scenes, and the ending is really cool. Bonus points if you're a sucker for relatively realistic swordplay.

Yeah it was pretty neat. Cool setting and concept. Also odd to have such a psycho as protagonist. A shame the 'choices' were just non-standard game overs and there were hardly any of 'em.

Oh well, I am gonna get over myself and play Kara no Shoujo, Katawa Shoujo and Saya no Uta (and Primordia and Gemini Rue and The Shivah, for balance);
I'll just pretend I'm the girls.

Shouldn't be hard.

I'd also try Steins;Gate and Ever17 but I can't find them.

These better entertain me or I'm gonna cast spells at Black Cat, and stuffies.

I have never, ever, recommended Katawa Shoujo. That bleep is terribad. D:

Kara no Shoujo and Saya no Uta should entertain you at least some, though. And the website Karma did link you to has many other good ones (buried in veritable TONS of pure shit). :3

Every time she opens her mouth True Art (tm) happens. ¬_¬

Even I wanted to murder her by the end. Her Nyapower is >9000.
