That looks great. Judging by the description I feared the game would be focused on multiplayer, but the trailer announces 12 campaigns so everything is fine.

Looks like incline. Hope that it doesn't get some insane streamlining, thou what can you really streamline about Advance Wars and Fire Emblem?

By the very bare looks it might get in a fisticuff with Into The Breach. Which might not win.

I've been looking for an excuse to replay Warsong since forever. Although this game doesn't feature commander upgrades it looks better than AW.

Also, kudos for using The Line for the trailer, those guys are awesome:

    It's out.

Played the first four campaign scenarios. It feels like a mix between advance wars and langrisser. You have commander units but can capture towns to raise income and recruit units on hq. Units have specific traits(ie. Archers do more damage if it attacks without moving, spearmen deal crit damage if adjacent to another spearman unit etc...), and each unit is stronger and vulnerable against a number of unit types(ie. Cavalry is weak against spearmen).

    Very enjoyable so far.

A couple of hours ago GOG announced Wargroove is coming to the store. No specific date yet other than 'Q1 2019'.

Got it on the Switch for something for trips. Mostly feels like Advance Wars with a little extra thought put into some of the mechanics.

Unit restoration isn't free and there's no merging, and it weakens the town you use to restore, but it's instant. Makes it more valuable and more meaningful. Haven't seen if ammo is a thing yet.

COs take after Days of Ruin by being a map unit, are quite strong but losing them is a defeat state. CO powers are targeted and seem useful in their own ways.

The crit system is the biggest shakeup though imo - it makes positioning even more relevant and playing the game right to maximize crits is going to have a huge impact.

Overall its roughly what I expected: Advance Wars with some improvements.

what really disgusted me of advance wars was the puzzle approach, there was no strategy involved, only figuring out which was the optimal sequence of attacks. people keep comparing this with advance wars: does it suffer that same retarded structure?

Not too far in yet so maybe it'll change, but so far no. There is a "Puzzle" mode you eventually unlock, so I suspect they've tried to contain all that shit to there.

Only just started, but game's very fun indeed. Only wish the tutorial section had been skippable.

I little bit, yes. This is particularly evident in the scenarios where you start with a handful of units and you can't recruit anyone at all.
But I'd say that starting from act 3, you will need several attempts to complete a mission, and this involves trial and error, while learning the enemy movements so that you can counter that properly at the next attempt.
