Kickstarter doesn't allow Paypal for another reason as well: Problem with Paypal and the Kickstarter model is that if you choose to send money via Paypal, the money gets transferred immediately as soon as you pledge money (including transaction fees). If a project turns out to be unsuccessful, Kickstarter would have to send the money back via Paypal as well, once again for a fee.
So you'd either receive less money back than you originally pledged, or Kickstarter would make a loss on unsuccessful projects. Or as a third option Kickstarter would have to charge the projects. Either way that's why Paypal is not going to happen in the foreseeable future on Kickstarter itself unless they come to some sort of agreement with Paypal and other Internet payment providers like Skrill.

The Paypal thing for Wasteland was put online only after they reached the initial funding goal for the very same reason I'd guess.

Cracked.com seems to have had a positive impact. Over 60K for today. 30K to go until 2.1M. One day more and we'll be there.

    High fives all around.

Yeah, this thing has added around another $100,000 in two days? Dang! They also have a new International VAT-free digital option so our friends across the pond won't get raped by your insane tax system!

Anyone know how this compared to Double Fines at 11 days left? By the way, just watched their first video "diary" of the whole DF Kickstarter phenomenon that was posted for backers to watch.

DF backers forums includes a chart of how much they raised. With 11 days left, they had about $2.4M, but they were going pretty steadily at that point, whereas Wasteland 2 managed to have a before-end spike. DF added $.1M in the next 6 days, then about $.25-$.3M in the next 4 days, and $.5-$.6M in the last 2. Kickstarter usually follows that kind of a curve, so y'know, $2.5M is looking more and more realistic.

So almost as much as the budget for the original Fallout. Anyone have a clue about the engine they're gonna use? Everyone I know is curious.

I'd be impressed if anyone knew, since they don't actually know themselves. It's not a huge concern since the production is about content, so mostly they're looking for usability and a good licensing deal. That's the newest I know as of two days ago.

    Awesomeness coming tomorrow.

Nah. We should be seeing more updates for WL2 for the final 10 days as they're going to focus on the closing curve to raise more money. So good stuff should be coming at a steady rate. Another Kickstarter update tomorrow, and it'll have something pretty small but that I think is p cool. Plus, tomorrow should see 'em hitting the Obsidian 2.1M goal, so that in itself is p awesome.

They should make a vid with MCA in it... When they reach 2.1... It would certainly "spark interest"...:bounce:

Kicking it forward seems to be gaining exponential momentum too. Sure, there are plenty of turds on there, but the general consensus is still overwhelmingly positive. I wouldn't be surprised if years from now Fargo gets more credit for this Kickstarter phenomenon than Schaffer. The entire buzz is bringing insane amounts of exposure to Wasteland 2 and now it's even an outside possibility that it will surpass Double Fine's $3.4mil. I still gotta stick with my original prediction of $2.6mil though.

I think Fargo said something in Twitter about some concept art showing the Rangers, maybe is that.

One thing I'm still hoping for (against hope, sadly) is that they manage to somehow get Jason Anderson back from Turtle Rock Studios, he'd deserve it after all the time and effort he put into the project. Well, that and the comeback of the toaster repair skill (which may well be included in the $15 tier reward anyway).

I'd imagine at this point he'd at least be involved in consultation either via phone or email. We can hope.
