I think it's just that - that sentence is a bit confused, talking about how combat starts as turn-based and then going on to say 'but' it can be hurried through in some circumstances, but he never implies an auto-resolve option. The team's been quite careful to walk the 'combat will be challenging but you won't need to fight a half-hour battle against every Biker Scum attack' PR line for a while now.

Overall, the doc's a delight to read. Very cheering, gives you real hope they're in the right mindset for this. I only wish it was longer...

(The forums seem happy with it, too. I wonder what Fuzion would have to say about it...

EDIT: No, sorry - someone who works in aerospace is not convinced by the apocalyptic backstory's use of 'LEO satellites'. Apparently the percentage of them that get shot down just isn't realistic enough for Wasteland 2.)

We can always hope. I have the feeling that the scarcity of ammo and healing won't be as drastically noticeable in the final game though, unfortunately. Still cautious about expecting too much awesomeness from the final product, even though I pledged a hundred bucks.

Will read the doc in full later.

Heh. Well, he'll get the link, as long as he doesn't delete the Kickstarter update mail in disgust.

Skipped over the backstory at the beginning, read the rest. Sounds ambitious, my feelings are somewhere between excited and skeptical.

There are no spoilers in the backstory if that's what you're worried about.

Both, as in you'll be able to complete "Attack, attack, attack" trash fights without actually having to push the awesome attack button over and over. But I hope there's an option to tell your dudes what to do, having retarded AI wasting full clips into level 1 rats is probably not worth the convenience.

Is the PDF too big to copy/paste/post here?

Google is giving me shit and I'm also having trouble with the mirrors posted above. :(

I'm seeing a 'quick combat' option (no graphics, CPU calcs, you see a report of casualties/killed at the end of calc), which is great.

True, hopefully there will be a 'melee only' option or some such.

Speak for yourself, faggot. We of the Protestant Church of Skyway say no game is sacred, everything is shit. Some are merely less shit than others.

KotC didn't make enough money to justify a sequel anytime soon. :(

    :yeah:

    I don't see JA2-style loadout bags/vest/helmets etc. though, just custom weapons. :(

Will I be able to play as a bad guy instead of being a goody desert ranger?

I like the idea of nature taking over a city, but it doesn't seem to fit the concept of W2.
Desert, lack of water, intense heat... that doesn't go well with forest and green areas.

Apart from that, some p.c. ideas on the design document.

    Within this frame of reference,

"As a team of Desert Rangers, it is your job to restore order in this lawless post-apocalyptic landscape.
How you do it is up to you. Interact with hundreds of characters across the world, shaping your own
destiny. Who you choose for your team will add dimension to your party interactions, opening new
possibilities for you to explore. Will the wastes remember you and your team as diplomatic defenders of
justice? As a group of intimidating, brutish thugs? Or somewhere in between? The choice is yours."

    Looking good.

Now the game just has to be as good as the document.

Sounds good. I hope the actual implementation ends up being as cool as it sounds and not some gimmicky bullshit.

It sounds like they'll let your LARP an evil character, but you have to stick to a somewhat "good" main quest. This doesn't bother me at all but I know some of you get hung up on this type of stuff.
