I generally set them to numpad + and numpad minus. The numpad is distant enough I never hit it accidentally, I can easily tell what is what (I never save when I meant to load) and quickly reach over when I want to save.

I absolutely hate the idea (and especially the practice) of them being adjacent keys. Because they have such very different effects. I like a quicksave somewhere like F5, if it's not in use. Quickload can be F12, or some combination of keys I'm not going to accidentally press. Since games do indeed crash, quicksave is utterly necessary. Quickload I don't really need but I don't mind it.

I generally unbind them. I always feel as if I'm abusing a godmode cheat when I save every 30 sec.

Strangely, I'm one who saves often but never uses quicksaves, instead going the ESC --> save game --> select slot --> save route every time. I just never used quicksaves and got used to doing it the manual way, so it stuck with me.

Mine's really weird. For quicksave I have "o" and for quickload I have "]". I originally had "p" for quickload but that was too close to quicksave for comfort, so I moved it over.

I guess I have them out of the way to avoid hitting them by accident. To get them I can either rotate my left hand and hit them with my thumb or use my right hand quickly.

I don't use the F keys because sometimes those have functions in certain games.

Surprisingly enough I prefer F6 (save) and F7 (load). I can't remember if I ever hit one of them accidentally when I meant to hit the other. I absolutely hate F9 and F12, they're too far away for my taste.

Binding quickload to anything other than F9 should be a hanging offense.

I once bound quicksave to f9 on a friends computer. He was not amused.

I quicksave a lot, I'm always paranoid of a crash or power failure and I hate having to re-do content I just went through.

    F6 and F7 :obviously: .

Fearing adjacent keys is #1 sign of impaired balls development.

I remember QL being f11 in a few cases. I even played a game where it was just "L" :decline:

I do this. Being used to save points in console games, the extra few seconds don't bother me. Plus, Quicksaves also have always sounded kind of...unreliable to me, as if they're easier to corrupt than "normal saves". Yeah, I dunno.

Like Ulminati said, the temptation of having an "undo fuckup" awesome button readily available doesn't help. I'm more likely to suck it up if I have to load an actual save.

Having played too much IE games, I always use "Q" and "L".

Ofcourse this isn't a good idea for WASD games, but I rarely play these.

F5 and F7. Keeping them one key apart potentially stops me from accidentally quicksaving when I'm trying to load and vice versa. Hasn't let me down thus far.

    I tend to use F6 and F9.
The former is close enough to press on a whim and they're far enough apart to avoid pressing the wrong one by accident.

Thanks to the abysmally buggy nature of Bethesda's games, I've more or less gotten into the habit of saving and occasionally reloading very often.
Their games have a habit of crashing every 10-15 minutes and Fallout 3 has this bug where 'cutscene' scripts tend to stop executing after every few lines (they'll continue for a few more if you save and reload).

this, with the exception of IE games where I use Q to quicksave and load "manually".

I could've sworn quicksave was bound to "g" rather than "q" in IE games.
