I was surprised to see that the creators of OMM went on to write for Valve and I didn't know one of them was also the creator of Portal of Evil.

Well, after reading about them in Wikipedia, I'd have to say that if they had as much influence as it seems to indicate, then they sure fucked up a good thing. I recall the site just being nitpicky and funny, but that was about it. Looking back now and seeing the article, I notice that they give them a bit too much credit in my opinion. Anyway, let us discuss a few points:

Link to article on death of adventure gaming.

In the above link, OMM uses Gabriel Knight 3 as the reason why adventure gaming died. That is, that the puzzles and plots became too contrived and that it wasn't in fact games like Myst and especially Tomb Raider that did them in.

Ah fuck, I can't be bothered to back through this site. I was trying to build an awesome link fest of their articles bemoaning decline decline decline only to then point out that the two creators wrote the storyline to Portal and Half Life 2 and that Gabe Newell thinks their p. funny dudes and loves them and probably hired them just to silence them. So I guess we know who to blame for the incredibly funny no matter how many times you've heard it "THE CAKE IS A LIE LOLOLOL"

So, what do you guys think? What I think is that they're another example of edgy mother fuckers crying about the Decline of Vidya Games and how the video games of the 90's to early 00's didn't add anything new... only to work for a company that helped pioneer one of the most dreadful "advances" in the gaming industry: The interactive movie aka "Cinematic FPS"

    Thanks guys!

EDIT: Also, they are directly praised for influencing many of the gaming journalists we have today. THANKS AGAIN GUYS!

PoE was pretty cool back when I remember it. Last time I was on that site (other then just now only to see it's gone) must have been in 2001 or so. I guess it was something of a 4chan before there was a 4chan. It pretty much introduced me to some of the most fucked up people on the internet. I mean, of course, the links on it.

Old Man Murray is full of shit. No wonder he's such a popular figure for all the game "journalists" that are around now.

In light of adventuregamers.com considering Portal games to be adventure games, and the fact that he now works at Valve on those games, it ends up being pretty funny though. OH NO! ABSTRACT PUZZLES IN A WORLD DESIGNED SOLELY FOR A GAME! SNARK SNARK SNARK!
