Which factions do you usually join in Gothic 1 and 2?

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Joined the militia in G2, I think I've never done that. I always liked how the moment you walk into the first town there's one dude in gleaming metal armour while everyone is in rags, and you ask, where can I get some of that shit, and he says, join the militia. They sure know how to PR.
Nah, he just loses it because you're not even a citizen and you're asking for Paladin gear.

I'm pretty sure I knew this when I last played, but I forgot. Help me git gud at G2 combat.

I'm trying using G2 controls not G1 controls, and seems like the best I can do is string two standard sword swings together, or a running forward overhead slash. Maybe because I'm still Rookie skill level on one-handed? At any rate, this basically means whoever I fight it's a question of learning their attack timing, parrying or jumping back when needed, and getting in my two slashes whenever I can. E.g. against a wolf it's back, slash, back, slash. I can dispatch most low level enemies with little problem at level 6, but I'm trying to remember how you start fighting better.

One thing I know I never understood very well was when you need to strike to get the crits. Seems to be related to hitting when the enemy is particularly open, but I can't seem to do it deliberately.

Very much enjoying it, but to be honest, the more I play, the less difference I see between G1/2 and G3/R1.

You fight more fluid at 30% and 60% weapon skill. No idea where you got the idea that you can influence crits ?

I've played basically every possible faction/build with the exception of Sect Camp in Gothic 1. And, yes, bows and magic are overpowered in both games but it's still fun to do a playthrough once you've done the obligatory melee run.

You need to train your skills as Nim said. You get new combos(replacing the older one) at %30 and %60. Crit chance goes up after training too and you strike a bit faster.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
I've only had two thorough playthroughs of G1 and G2, and I've yet to join the Sect Camp or the Monastery. So I have something to look forward to, at least.

Speaking of lulzy things, I once enabled the cheat mode and "possessed" the Black Troll in G2, then walked back to Khorinis. Felt like a medieval rendition of Godzilla, at least until the guards finally did me in.

Thanks. Hrm. I always thought crits were dependent on you timing right, which I suppose provided an illusion of complexity. +M
