To be honest I liked Obsidian before Alpha Brotocol and New Vegas were announced. They weren't the best and sure, their gameplay wasn't stellar, but their games were still superior to Biowhore and Bethesda shit back then.

Just how I liked Interplay before FO:BOS.

Companies aren't immutable, their first and foremost goal is profit and lately nobody but a handful of indies wants to attempt monopoly at niche markets but instead to compete with the big ones(that will buy them sooner or later) in mainstream that like everything else(music, films, etc.) is becoming worse and worse with time, it's simple as that.

For all that is known, Looking Glass could be releasing shit games right now, had they survived.

I never played Kotor 2, but the worst game Obsidian has put out that I have played is probably NWN2. And it's still better than Dragon Age. But kind of crap.
