Anime X-Rebirth VS Elite Dangerous

Which is better worse and why? Discuss.

Actually, I just got slightly bored with X3-AP, and at the same time I've had a massive nostalgia comeback for Elite. I've heard horrible things about both games, but I only trust the Codex so what do you guys think?

Specifically, is Elite Dangerous any similar in gameplay and "atmosphere" to the original game?

How does X-R compare to X3? Is it really as much decline as most people paint it to be?

If you want gameplay and atmoshere of the original Elite, Elite Dangerous is a worthy successor.

Basically everything is improved besides the controls which are a matter of taste. To test the control and general flight behaviour play the combat demo.

Right now Elite Dangerous is an empty universe where the only thing to do is make more money to buy bigger ships while looking at planets from a distance, and they're only just now adding in co-op Wings. That said, the actual flight mechanics are great, and what little combat there is is also really great so there is at least a meaty core to the gameplay that's underutilized.

X-Rebirth on the other hand is shit. Everything about it. Like Draq said this shouldn't even be a question.

More like different flavors, but remember: At least one doesn't require you to entrust all of your personal data and gameplay to their whims. Let's not forget the time they stole Brady's gold. The guys who made X will never, ever, take your gold away.
