Grand Strategy Yet another EU4 MP game

I had another look at the save game. Denmark is quite strong with second biggest territory and income. I may have undervalued its strength. They are a serious contender for no 2 or 3 position. Need a bigger army tho.

 

This is more for EUIV but these sessions has shown me how OP mercenaries are. It's almost as if Europe wasn't ravaged by roving bands of mercs for an entire century. This game lacks a shit ton of C&C

 

You might be correct, I have not played a real coloniser in EU4 before. Except a short Portugal game. I noticed that Portugal is already colonizing the Caribeean in our game, while I haven't "discovered" those islands yet and can't. Those are the real valuable ones.

 

Mostly an early game problem, later mercs get less useful because MP pools get so big and regular armies can siege pretty fast. More importantly it's too easy to keep war exhaustion down with diplo atm.

 

Yeah getting a larger standing army and more MP is all part of what i want to do, but that is not something that magic it self up.

Also I would like to suggest we tried playing our game with 1.41 and downgrade to 1.31 only if it does not work again. My reason for this is simple - 1.41 seems way more balanced and introduces many fun mechanics while eliminating some of the most notorious exploits ie. vassal feeding.

 

what does vassal feeding mean?

 

Giving vassals some un-cored provinces, since you get cores when you annex them.

 

I never considered that before. I mean apart from giving back my vassal/PU provinces that already was their core from war with enemies.

Yes but its not working that well any more as of the latest patch. I haven't been using it in single player but since MP is super try hard anyway I did do this as OE.

I would like to stick to 1.32 for at least one more session since I have two vassals that I'm the process of annexing that would likely turn into protectorates instead in 1.4, leaving me with absolutely hideous internal borders for the rest of the game. Such border gore can not be allowed. After that I'm all for 1.4 even though it would cost me some manpower.

If by Emprah you mean Austrian, he is wondering (and I do too) why France is allied to Austria, who is also bizarrely allied with brandenburg.

To be honest, that vassal feeding is gone in 1.4.1 is the prime reason to switch.
