People News Chris Avellone wins settlement after lawsuit over sexual assault accusations

More great writing like Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity ahead... :rpgcodex:

Game News Baldur's Gate 3 now available on Early Access

BG2 had great level & encounter design. Yes it was 'unrealistically' chock full of events, items, etc but it's super boring to go through a large map with nothing interesting to do or see, just popamole enemies and garbage items... Like in the D:OS games, PoE, and lots of games with crap...

Game News Baldur's Gate 3 now available on Early Access

I put a couple hours into this "early access" pre-release BS. It feels kind of like D:OS with a couple splashes of Neverwinter Nights 1. I couldn't force myself to finish either of those but at least it's not Tyranny mixed with PoE.

    Nox: Opinions?

I pretty much never charmed enemies and always summoned 1-2 meaty guys and let them take care of anything : ) Giant scorpions were quite reliable. And the Wizard extermination mission was pretty cool, though I thought it was more fun being a wizard and slaughtering the fire knights. Horrendous...

In Progress I don't know where this is going - Torment: Tides of Numenera Blind LP/Impressions

The conversation options seem appalling. In addition to what you pointed out, I'm a bit curious as to whether or not the options which seem like they could have a big difference, like posing as Adahn (really?) have any real long term or game play effect or if within the conversation they...

KickStarter Cave of Sorrows Dungeons and Dragons Clone

So... there is a lot going on in this thread. I had a short emotional roller coaster as the Cave of Sorrows sounded better and better then turned out to be fake. However, the Red Hand of Doom looks pretty freaking incredible. It's a shame that it only made it to the demo and hasn't been...

Community For Balance: Codex Pillars of Eternity 2 fundraiser continues

I liked KOTOR 2. PoE was boring, Tyranny was boring too . . . I also loved BG2 and want to see another like it but these wannabes from Obsidian just aren't cutting it for me. I'm not sure if their original lore sucks, or their lore dumps suck, or their storytelling sucks; however, I think...

    Recommend me a roguelike

I liked DCSS a lot and I also sort of got into ADOM despite sucking at it and never getting very far. For the cell phone I also played a lot of Pixel Dungeon, but item/loot luck is a little too important in it, I think. There's not a lot of room for you to play how you want compared to most...

Community The Age of Incline: RPG Codex's 2012-2016 GOTY Results

I played all the Lone Wolf books where you play as the titular character and I agree, it certainly felt like an RPG. Stats, skills, I would also point out the items you can get and equip/use, luck heavy combat (not that RPGs need luck heavy combat, but certainly some have it), you even level...

Just glanced at it on steam, it looks rather good! Actually reminds me of those wacky old SNES RPGs but you can design your own character and there don't appear to be followers/NPCs.

Community The Age of Incline: RPG Codex's 2012-2016 GOTY Results

I didn't really like DOOM to be honest. I didn't think the enemy encounters were that well designed, but it worked for the game because they put too much ammo in (didn't need to worry about running out or having ammo management) and I HATED the glory kill system. I found it especially annoying...

Community The Age of Incline: RPG Codex's 2012-2016 GOTY Results

Games I played and thought deserved better: Shadowrun Returns, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Paper Sorcerer, Tale of Wuxia. Games I played and thought deserved worse: Witcher 3, Divinity: OS, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Invisible Inc., Pillars of Eternity. I don't understand why these third...

Anime Nobunaga's Ambition: Risshiden - Forcing the Fun in 'No Refund'

Good work! if you create a lasting legacy, perhaps history won't(or wouldn't) view Komodo as a dishonorable villain? In any case, there is one pertinent question. Steve Komodo eats KFC while your signature suggests a preference for an alternate establishment. For the discerning reader who...

    Bulletstorm

I really enjoyed it. At the beginning when you get that whip it seems like it would devolve into gimmick based gameplay but it didn't. I'd rate it more fun than Borderlands or Wolfenstein.
