Games "must be like Hollywood" is the worst decline in gaming

Calling glory kills a "scripted segment" is a stretch, they're short animations played when you finish off a stunned enemy with a melee attack. Doom Eternal is extremely "gamey" and proud of it.

Decline Obsidian's Creative-Bankruptcy compared to Other Non-Obsidian Upcoming large CRPGs... Is there any hope for Obsidian to ever make it big?

The problem is that it clutters up the world with useless things. I'd prefer if the items in the world have a purpose, so instead of a text about something meaningless it could be something that teaches the player about game mechanics or where a certain alchemy ingredient grows. And they're...

Decline Obsidian's Creative-Bankruptcy compared to Other Non-Obsidian Upcoming large CRPGs... Is there any hope for Obsidian to ever make it big?

Makes me think of something that someone on this site said a couple of years ago, regarding Pillars 1: That the backstory about the god Eothas taking a physical form, leading a rebellion and having to be destroyed using something called "the Godhammer Bomb" sounds like a much more interesting...

Underrail: Heavy Duty - heavy weapons and high level mission DLC

You can see an Ironhead thug kill the player with a grenade launcher at 1:26 into the trailer.

    Obsidian General Discussion Thread

That quest fills in blanks in the narrative though, and I believe it's skippable with meta-knowledge (by never talking to HK-47 about the HK-50 units). It makes the game feel more whole, even if the gameplay side is lacking in quality.

What else did TSLRCM needlessly restore/change, in your opinion?

Starfield Pre-Release Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Those complaints were always dumb. It should be obvious to anyone that the only alternative that doesn't add years of development would be generic pointless filler buildings and NPCs that add nothing and just make walking to the actual areas of interest more annoying. I have no idea why...

Cain on Games - Tim Cain's new YouTube channel

I think it was natural and creative way to do exposition through the dialogue options. A lot of the story has to do with your past, so it makes sense that your character would have dialogue options pertaining to it instead of just reacting to what others say.

Cain on Games - Tim Cain's new YouTube channel

Those problems lie more with level scaling and lack of non-combat ways to progress, though, rather than with the learn-by-doing approach.

Skyrim did improve on how skills are leveled, making it more rewarding to just play the game normally without grinding. Combat skills in earlier games gained skill experience per strike, in Skyrim they changed it to per damage dealt, meaning you are no longer encouraged to use a dull dagger...

    Kotor 2

It's not. It's just a viewpoint, the player is free to agree or disagree with her, the whole Influence system is built around it. You can constantly mock her and tell her to stuff her teachings. She's also completely alone. No one likes her. The Sith think her ideas are weakening them, the Jedi...

    Kotor 2

No, she's the villain, and she's the villain from the very start. You're mixing up the author with the fictional villain. Being able to convince Darth Traya to change her ways would be as ridiculous as Luke convincing the Emperor to stop being an evil asshole.

Dark Forces is still the best Star Wars shooter

I stand by what I said two years ago: Tl;dr Amazing atmosphere, mediocre gameplay. Also, the player character is voiced by Temuera Morrison, who played the clones in the movie(s).
