  1. How times have changed

So, that review marks it down for poor graphics and you're applauding it as having balls? Seriously?
  2. Game News Fate: Unsdiscovered Realms released

You guys are doing straight up piracy on the forums now?
  3. Divine Divinity: should have tried it sooner!

Yes. You'll only solve some quests (and discover others) if you find all the caves and so on.
  4. Preview EuroGamer fire Gerry Anderson broadside at Fallout 3

Lucky, then, that this preview doesn't actually talk about dialogue at all other than a fleeting reference at the end. *Yawn*
  5. Spiderweb software

Yeah, but when the OP can't decide if he likes the demo and a chunk of the posters in the thread think all his games are the same (or whatever the complaint is), what are the chances of playing every game through to completion? Just start with the latest.
  6. Spiderweb software

You've played part of two games and AV4 is one of the weaker ones. I agree that the combat is simple (though AV5 is improved) but you've dismissed Geneforge too readily. If he were looking for a strat RPG, I'd definitely say "pass" but neither Arcanum nor PS:T have combat worth even...
  7. Spiderweb software

You don't say which game you tried and, despite what some people will say, there are significant differences between some of them. I get the feeling they won't quite have the tactical depth you'd prefer but they do offer huge, (usually) open gameworlds, interesting scenarios, decent writing...
  8. Oh wow, I never heard of this before! Reluctant Hero!

It didn't find a publisher. iHobo is now attempting to pitch it for the third time with revisions, although Chris is still trying to include a "major game system" for a non-combat path through the game that "goes beyond some dialogue scripting".
  9. Neverwinter Nights 2

Huh. It ran OK (just, admittedly) on my old laptop (P4M 1.7, 1.5Gb, X600), quite well on my old desktop with medium settings (P4 3.2, 2Gb, 6800GT) and very nicely with almost everything on high with my current laptop (c2d 2.4, 4Gb, 8600M, Vista).
  10. Game reviews are useless.

That reviews are subjective isn't his point; his point is that because Metacritic selectively weights reviews, they are skewing the average, which would otherwise (according to him and the citations) produce an accurate picture.
  11. What if AoD sucks?

Just curious - define "fail" in this case. Or success.
  12. Advice Needed: Space Rangers 2/StarForce copy protection.

Right...so why would you want both at the same time? If you have SR2, then SR1 is entirely superceded. To the OP, it's your prerogative to buy whatever you want but $10 difference (or whatever) seems a tiny amount to reward TotalGaming for a DRM-free game and you'll be off and playing a...
  13. Advice Needed: Space Rangers 2/StarForce copy protection.

Huh? Planetary battles are entirely optional. The interface improvements alone make SR2 much nicer to play than SR1. Out of all the people here who enjoyed SR2, very few (if any at all) went on to put any serious time into SR1 after they'd played the newer one.
  14. Advice Needed: Space Rangers 2/StarForce copy protection.

Buy the TotalGaming version. You don't need a manual for this like you might Arcanum - the character creation is very simple. SR1 is a waste of time and is completely superceded by SR2. And the poster? Get over it. They're providing a cheap, safe option - reward them for it.
  15. Has the traffic increased or decreased?

I don't really go for this e-penis comparison but what did you want to know? In my opinion, all these websites (Alexa etc) are worthless - show me figures for monthly uniques tracked by the server.
