Pick a JRPG for me to play.

You have to avoid some crashes, but you can finish it.

    Final Fantasy XVI

Speaking of which now in my 30's. Outside of combat the game feels very much like a love letter to Final Fantasy like 9 did. Lots of very well executed nostalgic moments. Gameplay Loop's now (somewhat, still issues) better as well. Time-Skip ended predictably with a bang. Of course, As...

Very much agree to disagree then. That's ok. They may not for you though. Prologue stuff does get picked up again, but the game builds on what it establishes so if you dislike that it's not going to get much better, if not worse as soon as certain things kick in.

Disagree on that. Prologue was ok, if too GoTy, but by far the best parts of the writing came after for me in the character and world-building. Comes down to subjectivity I suppose.

    Final Fantasy XVI

Agree on bad summary, but technically there's thelater in the game. Not as drastic as originally imagined and considering how the game handled everything else so far (and the fact that certain outlets haven't overly exploited it) I don't think it's going to be badly handled. Just mentioning for...

    Final Fantasy XVI

Read what was posted above. Make your own conclusion. But for repeat: If you're interested in the narrative or gameplay (though just wait for the pc version then and potential patches/mods that adress the first playthough difficulty because its too easy). It's good. If you're looking for...

    Final Fantasy XVI

Very much where I'm at. Think Maehiro, Minagawa and Soken all did a great job, would certainly play another single player game by them again and they are what make me really like XVI. Ryota is kind of a mystery, because I can't really judge in which parameters he had to work in. Combat feels...

    Final Fantasy XVI

Still on my first playthough and only have 2 Eikons so far, they seem to, but can't give a definitive answer to that yet. Difficulty on first playthrough is the more obvious thing they fucked up. Can't judge hunts and sidequests yet , but main story certainly (Not that this doesn't apply to most...

Yeah, don't go into this expecting deep rpg systems. Kind of obvious.

    Final Fantasy XVI

Very much disagree on that. The care put into the game through them add A LOT to the tone, the charachters and the world building. It’s probably my favourite part. That the game’s narrative would just jump from setpiece to setpiece contrary to the settings tone was my biggest fear actually...

    Final Fantasy XVI

18 hours in and at 35% main story (according to the PS5 main menu). Sounds like I'm lagging behind comparatively, but that's not a surprise. I tend to have more hours. Game has slowly opened up map wise. Currently in the first a rather large map containing multiple locations/towns. You can go...

    No, just swords.

    Final Fantasy XVI

Putting this in spoilers, but feel free to read it. Just about the setting. Hopefully I didn't get anything wrong. BTW: It's a *little* thing, but man does the game boot you fast into the main menu. No logos, no long animations, just straight into it. Hopefully that's a thing on PC as well.

    Final Fantasy XVI

XVI is faster, snappier, feels much better. There's also a clear indication that you can get better at it which I never got with XV (higher skill ceiling) and mechanics don't feel as useless. IMO, resident codex action players can give much better judgement whenever they'll play than me.
