KickStarter Shroud of the Avatar - Lord British's Not-Ultima Online 2

And what was even going on in the Portalarium offices for most of the development cycle? They peaked at ~30 staff members, development began shortly before the 2013 kickstarter, it went persistent in 2016 and the massive layoffs didn't happen until mid-2018. So 30 staff members * 40 hrs a week *...

KickStarter Shroud of the Avatar - Lord British's Not-Ultima Online 2

Seems like the scope of the game was way too big for the developers. During the kickstarter, the game was promoted as both single player and multiplayer, with both a strong Ultima-style story and UO style online sandbox gameplay. They wanted to be all things to all people. And they kept adding...

KickStarter Shroud of the Avatar - Lord British's Not-Ultima Online 2

The death spiral continues as according to steam charts, the average # of players is the lowest since it went persistent in 2016 and the peak players is lower than at some points pre-persistence. I don't think the game was set up as a scam from the beginning but they were so horribly incompetent...

It's pretty amazing how they honed the same, great style of gameplay in MM1 and 2 and added in VGA graphics, music and mouse support with MM3. I guess the combats got a lot shallower but I didn't miss fighting 66 devil kings and stuff like that in the earlier games.

KickStarter Shroud of the Avatar - Lord British's Not-Ultima Online 2

If you look at steam charts, their fundraising numbers and their situation with their office and staff, it's clear the game is in a death spiral. The only question is how long will the few remaining whales continue to support the game because Portalarium has no shame in taking in every single...

Yeah that did the trick. The animations in the game seem a bit too fast but otherwise everything works fine even at that high of a cycle count.

Anyone have problems with the mouse in World of Xeen on Dosbox? It is very jittery and laggy. I have tried a few other games from the same era and none of them have the issue. Upping the CPU cycles helps a bit but not too much. I remember playing it before on dosbox and never had this problem...

KickStarter Shroud of the Avatar - Lord British's Not-Ultima Online 2

That Titler guy keeps posting that he has some kind of inside information on Portalarium and he has shopped it around to various news sites (including Ultima Codex) but that none of them will publish it. Why doesn't he just publish it himself on reddit or in a forum? I'm curious to know what...

Elder Scrolls The Elder Scrolls: Blades - free to play, first-person RPG for mobile platforms

I played this for maybe an hour and uninstalled it. It plays the exact same as every other crap F2P mobile game out there but it has an elder scrolls skin. Grind repetitive quests, upgrade items/buildings, wait for timers, lather/rise/repeat.

    Hearthstone

The adventures with the wings were way better than gouging people with 3 expansions a year where 90% of the cards are crap and it costs hundreds of dollars to get every card.

    Incline Phantasy Star 4

Genesis chip does FM synthesis which sounds crazy good for certain music types, like if you want heavy bass, drums and synths. But if you want the music to sound symphonic or realistic then it's pretty bad. Unfortunately only a few games really took advantage of the Genesis sound but the ones...

    Incline Phantasy Star 4

The hero of PS1 is Alis, but PS4 has a character named Alys. I always thought that was needlessly confusing. And both the names are different in Japanese: Alisa and Lyla.

Incline Grid Cartographer - Best Tool for Drawing Classic RPG Maps

It seems like you have to point it to a dosbox shortcut that opens the game. I was able to do that and launch the game through the "Where are we" program but then I get the error I have both Dosbox and where are we running in administrator mode. I've tried to re-acquire the game multiple...

Incline Grid Cartographer - Best Tool for Drawing Classic RPG Maps

What's the way to set it up? Documentation isn't very helpful. You have to set up a dosbox shortcut and then link it up in the settings?
