If you mean this game: Yes. I owned the Genesis version back in 1993, and beat it after much arduousness. The puzzles were sometimes overtly byzantine, but I much appreciated the strong atmosphere, outstanding animation, and brutal death scenes when you killed your enemies in battle.

So finally a decade after the game originally released, I've bothered to get around to playing Dark Souls. Yes for the first time, via the PS4 "Remastered" edition. I don't know much about this game (other than its status) and I'm not using a walkthrough or strategy guide because I'm not a wussy...

What you described is pure trolling sadism, ugh. Thanks for your breakdown on SMT difficulty. I don't intend to play every game in the Megami Tensei universe. I do intend to play Strange Journey eventually. I've to the 3DS version of that one. As far as the older stuff goes, Kyuuyaku Megami...

I previously beat the PS2 version of Nocturne on legit hardware, without a guide or walkthrough. Have also beaten Soul Hackers as such. I suppose the Famicom and Super Famicom Megami Tensei entries are "the hardest" though. If you're emulating sure, but I'm not emulating this stuff. Duly noted.

No idea. I didn't emulate DDS. I played a legit disc on a real PS2.

I beat Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga last night. Didn't even mean to beat it on Halloween eve but fitting enough. Quick Thoughts: Digital Devil Saga is an offshoot of the Shin Megami Tensei JRPG series using a modified SMT3 engine. DDS focuses on a futuristic techno-dystopia...

I've been playing Blue Dragon Plus on DS of all things. Yes a handheld JRTS from 2009. Believe it or not, mechanically the game is consistently involving and fairly interesting. The plot is absolute drivel though. Hironobu Sakaguchi wrote the plot...

What game are you wasting time on?

Right now I am almost 30 hours into Mass Effect 3 (the 360 version not that censored remastered bullshit). I am almost done with the fourth and final DLC, then I'll wrap up the main campaign. I loved ME1 and ME2, but there's something about ME3 that kind of bores me. Ultimately I think it puts...

I ended up not liking Rune Factory so much, mainly because of interface issues which grew increasingly irksome over time. I don't consider myself done with the RF series, as I plan to check out later iterations, which hopefully refine the interface. The first RF was a good idea, just too...

Recently I missed playing my original DS, so I decided to play a JRPG on it. Of all things I chose to start playing Rune Factory, the Harvest Moon + dungeon crawling hybrid. I haven't decided if it's good yet or not. I'm growing dank radishes, beating monsters into becoming farm slaves, and...

I agree with your assessment. I beat Arc 1 myself back in 2016. It's a pleasant SRPG snack. I've been meaning to get to Arc 2 since then. But yeah, so many games, so little time.

The version of Seiken Densetsu 3 included in Collection of Mana, is a professionally localized version of the original SFC ROM. But it's just a sanctioned localization. They did not make any changes to the game's code beyond that. So unfortunately the menus are just as laggy as they ever were...

I'm using SNES9X V1.60 to play Trials of Mana. It's the exact same ROM from the official collection that released last year. Just setup the way I want it to be via emulation.

I recall back in August 2000 when Neill Corlett and crew released the English fan translation for Seiken Densetsu 3. I remember trying it with ZSNES at the time, confirming my patched ROM worked. And then... I just forgot about the game. That can happen when you've got a lot continuous options...

I agree with all that except the combat. The game has a combat system that seems like it'd be complex and multi-layered but... So far this game has been an absolute cakewalk in general. For every normal encounter, I just have Jaster (main character) use his Desert Wind V2 ability to kill all...
