    Hey man, I was unaware of this, thank you for bringing it up. I believe the ruling hypothesis of the increase interest by global superpowers in the south of argentina is due to Antarctica. It is not only the largest fresh water reservoir of the world but unlike the north pole, there is ground under the ice and with territory come resources.

    Some pundits believe that with Trump's victory America will improve its relation with Russia and turn its attention to China, and the atlantic will be one the scenarios for a future war. It is all speculation thought, so far the only chinese presence in Argentina is the research station mentioned in the post.
