KickStarter Vagrus: The Riven Realms - post-apocalyptic fantasy caravan master RPG - now with Sunfire & Moonshadow expansion

Funnily enough, I'm the other way around. Loved the trading, caravan simulation and exploring the general world and setting, found the rpg/combat parts and companion storylines mundane. I'd play the shit out of sequel if they revamped the trade system to something that required active planning...

    Any good metroidvania recommendations?

Arguably no, since an open world gated by traversal abilities is the most common definition of the genre. Maybe try something like Unworthy for combat and exploration, although it's more of a a 2d soulslike.

    Age of Wonders 4

It's a start. In an ideal game, I see no problem with having early units being more cost-effective in a straight trade, with subsequent tiers adding versatility and force multiplying effects. I guess until patches/expansions fixes it there's also stacking Keeper's Mark with Swarmers (or the...

    Age of Wonders 4

And finished Grixolis on hard on the second try. Turns out it was pretty easy to counterpick Tulver or whatever his name was so long as you survived the inital stacks (and went with the tested and true sunderer spam). Also got lucky in that I started on a rather big 'island' and could settle 4...

    Age of Wonders 4

Pretty sure upkeep discounts cap at 50% and the base ones also affect enhancements, so Runesmiths clash with the Chaos T1 discount and/or Zeal. Playing the campaign maps on hard was a breeze up until the 5th one, where my first attempt ended when my entire army was ambushed by 2 heroes and a...

    Any good metroidvania recommendations?

Wishlisting Alwa's Legacy then. Also, habe been checking some Sseth videos and came across Tribal Hunter. It looks pretty fun tbh, but also the author seems to be a gentleman of very particular tastes. Anyone care to share their 2 cents?

    The Value of Traps

This. The gameplay is bad and from a realism perspective they make no sense in any context.

    Kotor 2

Always thought Kotor 2 had a nice, suspense-building story hyping the big reveal up until the Kreia betrayal. After which uh, she turns up super pissed and killing everyone for whatever reason? And she's bossing around the other Sith Lords now, none of which have had any meaningful...

Grime. Not that outstanding otherwise, but it certainly does have a unique aesthethic.

    Any good metroidvania recommendations?

8 doors. Short and pretty easy. Not a big fan of the artstyle. Meh overall.

    Any good metroidvania recommendations?

Finished Aeterna Noctis on hard difficulty. Incredibly flawed gem in all. It does have rather difficult platforming which is welcome, but the latter two thirds of the game revolves around teleportation arrows which requires you to devote build gems to be able to aim/time properly, are still...

    The Codex of Roguelikes

Meh. The hunger and glow mechanics were shit, and it's not like carting around several hundred arrows is more realistic than functionally infinite ammunition. Did my last 15-runer as a Mummy warrior specifically not to bother with it. Don't care too much about the 'zany new races, but not really...

DCSS - Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup

Most monsters can be tabbed, but there's also a fair few you should never allow into base contact if you can help it (eg Ogres early game). Use consumables liberally, especially wands early and even if you don't pump the skill. Even stuff like poison darts and whatnot are useful early on. Also...

    Any good metroidvania recommendations?

Like you have someone who'd listen. Anyhow, why are you even bringing up the difficulty? I certainly didn't. Pointing out that the control scheme and overall platforming design is funky doesn't detract from the good bits (and they're in there). The developer seem to have this From Software thing...
