What's stopping Swen from making a proper Ultima VII clone?

Ultima 7 has good writing, something of which Larian is incapable. I only played some of it, but I thought Divine Divinity got the Ultima 7 feel down pretty well, even if the writing wasn't there.

    Sonic the Hedgehog Appreciation Thread

I played it. It's pretty good; a 7/10 game, I'd say. Wait for a sale if you're not a huge Sonic fan. According to some leaks, there's gonna be a Mania Plus style expansion pack next year including a playable Fang the Sniper, so it might be a good time to grab it when that comes out. SEGA fucked...

    Metroid (NES)

Try going mapless and beating Metroid under an hour for the Samus strip tease. I doubt you can do it. Not without playing the game 50 times, at least. I managed to do it in just a few playthroughs with my superior map making strategy.

    Sonic the Hedgehog Appreciation Thread

People say it's new jack swing, but I don't really know any albums of that genre. I did back in release. I didn't know they were still in the game; I thought they were replaced by the pinball bonus stage in Mania Plus, along with the original Metal Sonic boss fight.

    Metroid (NES)

Awesome video on this game. Most people just go "it's too old and clunky and obtuse" but this guy actually deals with the game on its own terms. I recommend his videos on other NES games too, they're all great and very well-edited.

    The insane kinda-RPGs of MDickie

Hard Time used to be super popular on YouTube (the original 3D version, not the shitty 2D mobile game that's on Steam). It still makes the rounds on YT and Twitch once in awhile. It's classic kusoge. Not many people know that The You Testament got a successor with "The Making of a Prophet", an...

Game News Dustgrave is an upcoming turn-based sandbox RPG from the creators of ICY

The way the trailer presents the game is very uncanny. It reminds me of those ads for mobile games like Mafia City. The assets look like they came out of a mobile game, too. I never played ICY but it looked a lot more professional than this.

Game News Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in development at The Chinese Room, coming Fall 2024

A walking sim developer. This is gonna be a DE-style CYOA at best. Most people will say that's an improvement, considering the sloppy combat of the original, but it's safe to say that the "immersive sim" style of the original game will be absent from this sequel.

    Scoring Systems in Retro Games

After watching this video I've been thinking a lot about how so many old games reward the player with points. TL;DW is that Sonic 3 has a bunch of level design segments clearly designed to give the player opportunity to score points, and that you as the player should measure your own performance...
