  1. Why do Humans always suck as an RPG race?

Human is the "race" for people who don't like the racial gimmicks Races in RPGs used to be just another class to play as The elf would just be an elf and not an elf warrior or whatever
  2. [Poll] Best roguelike and why

Nethack's bones files would like to have a word with you
  3. Classic or Oddity

Oddity sucked when you complete a difficult part only to be rewarded with something you already collected the maximum of earlier. It would be better without those limits I think.
  4. The Codex of Roguelikes

    :hmmm:
  5. The Codex of Roguelikes

Dwarves dug out this entire level I was grinding on in Nethack I actually died here to huge monster spawns here while carrying the amulet up, so it was not so cool after all.
  6. The Codex of Roguelikes

Finished a Nethack run with a tourist, was pretty close in the end I got lucky with finding the right altar on the first pass. I don't think I would have survived going back around.
  7. The Codex of Roguelikes

Just won Nethack again for the first time in about a decade. Won with a samurai this time. I remember winning with a rogue before. I think I will try out some of the other classes after this.
  8. The Codex of Roguelikes

    :hmmm:
  9. The Codex of Roguelikes

It doesn't take much skill to mod items or recipes into DDA. Since it is a game that is focused on simulation the features are allowed so long as they are realistic enough. So you have a lot of the junk you would find in your house in the game, potentially to be used in some context. Then you...
  10. Why was SumDrunkGuy banned?

Alcohol is like a reward. Be careful of what you reward yourself for.
  11. Screenshot thread

Hunting and trading food is pretty OP, but still a lot of fun.
  12. Why aren't games more "aware" of the player's choices?

It's just fundamentally the abstractionist vs simulationist issue. There are some games that go pretty extreme in your direction. I remember Loop Hero having each class only have drops relevant to class and no junk. It worked alright there because the gameplay was very abstract. There are also...
  13. RPGs you always wanted to play, but couldn't get them to run (Instructions welcome)

I can't seem to get Gothic 3 to run on any computer. Maybe the disk is just shitty.
