TBS Age of Wonders: Planetfall - AoW gone to space

Good call! I missed a couple things in my criticism post, though to be fair I've played the game a fair bit more since then so maybe they just weren't as obvious to me. I honestly really don't mind the city spam but it's enough of a problem for others that I should have mentioned it. I think...

    Age of Wonders 3

I find AoW 1 a lot more fun if I make my heroes and especially leader into support units. Focus on spellcasting and abilities like leadership. They're still overpowered but they aren't as overpowered. You at least need to invest heavily in research before they can solo armies.

TBS Age of Wonders: Planetfall - AoW gone to space

Okay, now for what I think Planetfall did well (like two weeks later...): 1. Combat. Combat has always been the cornerstone of the AoW series and every new iteration has improved on it at a fundamental level. Planetfall is no exception. I was a little skeptical as to how they'd stick the...

TBS Age of Wonders: Planetfall - AoW gone to space

I've been playing this game almost non-stop since it came out. I absolutely love it. I don't think I've had this much fun with a 4X game on release since the 90s. It sinks its hooks in and doesn't let go. Seriously, the last time I was this engrossed with a strategy game from the get-go was...

    Age of Wonders 3

Yeah, it's much less dramatic. First it only impacts your own domain, unlike Flood which was global. Second, under Wetlands only swamps can turn to water. Now, it's possible for everything to become swamps and then everything to become water - it's just a process that could take dozens of turns...

    Age of Wonders 3

I love SMAC, and I think that objectively speaking it's probably better for atmosphere than AoW 1, but I find that for me it's something I have to be in the mood for - that is to say, either I get totally sucked in by the atmosphere or I don't. And when I do get sucked in, it's to a way bigger...

RPG Codex's Best RPGs - 2019 - RESULTS ARE OUT!

Hey yeah is this the thread where I come to shitpost about The Sims 3 being the greatest RPG of all time?

    Age of Wonders 3

Yep. Short answer is that AoW 3 has best combat, and at its core AoW is all about the combat. I think I spoke too soon as I'd still consider 1 my favourite, but it goes back and forth a lot. 1 has the best atmosphere. Not just of the series, but of any TBS I've ever played (and I've played just...

    Age of Wonders 3

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of this one either. IIRC from dev posts over on the Triumph forums, the reason it was removed was because the AI can't deal with enchantments intelligently. In AoW 1 and especially 2/SM, enchantments broke the AI a little. First, because they couldn't figure out how to...

    Why was wekangz banned?

His shitposts were reviewed and considered to be rated at only 87% dankness. The Codex maintains a strict standard: All memes and shitposts must be certified 93% dank or higher.

Management / Sim City Builders with some combat? [Stronghold/Caesar III]

Play the rest of the City Building Series. Pharaoh is what happens when you take Caesar 3 and make it better in every possible way.

    Age of Wonders 3

The game didn't really put its best foot forward. I remember when it was initially released, all the class units were basically identical. Since then, patches and DLC have really varied things up a lot, and there are fairly noticeable and substantial differences between, for example, a High Elf...
