  1. Incline Fheroes2 (open source Heroes of Might and Magic II engine) version 1.0 released

Been playing a few more open source remakes on Linux. Lots of these projects popping up now - very lucky that these old classics aren't just dying as technology changes. I've managed to finish Dark Forces on Hard with all the wonderful improvements in The Force Engine. (successor to the old...
  2. Incline POST-ATOMIC Resumed

Robert Felix has met his maker apparently: https://web.archive.org/web/20210622223529/https://www.timesargus.com/obituaries/robert-felix/article_820a699c-964c-565d-bf66-78c73327e037.html https://www.timesargus.com/obituaries/robert-felix/article_820a699c-964c-565d-bf66-78c73327e037.html...
  3. Warcraft III: Reforged - now with lowest user metacritic score of all time

If Blizzard were hoping for some kind of great Battlenet resurgence with Starcraft Remastered and this - then it doesn't appear to have happened. Now if they had the brainpower and humility to stick this and SC:R on Steam and port it to all systems with cross-platform multiplayer then we might...
  4. KickStarter Phoenix Point - the new game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop

Of all the DLC announced - I'm just hoping that Festering Skies will be a bit more than an excuse to fight even more combat encounters but on crashed spaceship maps. The combat's far better than nuXCOM but fighting the 50th encounter for a few resource crates is gonna start to grate. I'm not...
  5. TBS Age of Wonders: Planetfall - AoW gone to space

I wasn't a fan of the combat or constant missing in AoW 2 either - especially the elven bowmen in Julia's campaigns - and I've edited my post accordingly. The only thing I really like about AoW1 is beefing up a hero. The unit roster in the early games was all over the place. Planetfall is a...
  6. TBS Age of Wonders: Planetfall - AoW gone to space

Aside from the slight improvement alterations to the tactical battles - a chance to miss, new damage types and status effects (staggering, etc) Plus the Alpha Centauri like unit modding. I don't really see much which hasn't been done better elsewhere; indeed it didn't even hook me at all. I...
  7. GOG.com

From the first post in this thread with added emphasis... Even the installers GOG uses were made by others i.e. innosetup, mojosetup. It's nice to see it available again but let's not get too excited about what GOG do 99% of the time.
  8. GOG.com

It's really the ScummVM folks that deserve all the praise - they've been the ones who've been working away at it for years. Apparently they've even restored some extra bits to it. Hopefully all the CPU timing issues and other quirks are fixed.
  9. Kalypso HD remasters of Commandos 2 and Praetorians

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1100410/discussions/0/1744512174759471857/#c1744512235610143394 https://steamcommunity.com/app/1100420/discussions/0/1636410430555330490/#c1636410430555466986 Not much point in buying the originals for ~50p then eh? No Mac/Linux support for Praetorians HD either...
  10. KickStarter Phoenix Point - the new game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop

Yes, unless you find other non-official sources... On the plus side it's otherwise DRM-free. I've run it on Wine under Linux or you can even add it to Steam as a non-Steam game and run it through Proton. Shame they gave up on the cross platform stuff. It's been mostly another year of AAA...
  11. KickStarter Phoenix Point - the new game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop

A shame it's such a shambles of a release. I'm playing it through Wine on Debian with the latest DXVK. I can't believe they've passed this off as good enough; must've burnt through all the money pretty quickly. How many copies can they honestly be selling on the Epic store compared to the...
  12. GOG.com

Nice giveaway. The second perhaps isn't as great as we were hoping but it's nice to get Wasteland as an extra bonus. Make sure to redeem it - found on the Wasteland 2 Directors Cut entry under More > Serial Keys: https://imgur.com/pxvN0AC I suppose it's cynical to believe that it's been given...
  13. The STEAM Sales and Releases Thread

Didn't see diddly shit all in the so-called Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales other than a new kettle we needed and a pair a headphones for £18. Anyway some more dumpster diving, buying the software that everyone else has already bought! Picked up the last three games from Valve that I didn't...
  14. Incline Ion Fury (formerly Ion Maiden) - Build Engine powered FPS by Duke Nukem 3D mappers - now with Aftershock DLC

It definitely helps to acquire all the secret items in the first level if you're playing on the tougher difficulties. It's a bit like Blood in that respect where you start off weak. In the first level alone you can get 200 Heavy Armor, Double Uzi, Crossbow, those useless puck things, etc. Plus...
  15. Incline Ion Fury (formerly Ion Maiden) - Build Engine powered FPS by Duke Nukem 3D mappers - now with Aftershock DLC

It seems fair enough even on ultra viscera. The yellow enemies don't land every shot nor do the shotgun ones. The red are generally easy to dodge apart from in tight spaces. Sometimes even ducking is enough to stop them firing. The biggest killer is a grenade from the shotgun man - loves to...
