Blizzard is releasing their games on Steam

Imagine creating one of the first big desktop launchers in Battle.net and then tanking your brand so hard that you have to put your stuff on Steam (where it's already getting ravaged by negative reviews)

    Favorite drink while gaming?

Dr Pepper, although I've been trying to drink more water lately. Can't help it, it's my only vice

The Last of Us: Part II and Horizon Forbidden West budgets revealed

I knew that AAA games were bloated but good god this is Hollywood tier. The real question is, what did they spend on marketing and other costs? What were their actual profit margins? I get the impression the return on investment is pretty shit. This would explain the push for $70 games on top of...

Vapourware WOTC restricting content creation in new OGL - Paizo launches competing OGL - lol cancelled

I suspected as much but I figured I would get a second opinion. Now I can go full schizo and assert that the OGL is a conspiracy theory and does not exist

Vapourware WOTC restricting content creation in new OGL - Paizo launches competing OGL - lol cancelled

Honest question: if you can't copyright game rules/stats/etc and the license already doesn't allow you to use original WotC intellectual property, what exactly are you licensing under the OGL?

    Any good metroidvania recommendations?

Finally got around to finishing Bloodstained. It feels like a true successor to Symphony of the Night/Aria of Sorrow, and I cannot recommend it enough. People will fling shit over whether it's better or worse than those, but I just happy to have another Igavania

Arkane PREY - Arkane's immersive coffee cup transformation sim - now with Mooncrash roguelike mode DLC

I can see this being the case. It was still a fun game in the end but it could have been so much more, and I can feel the devs trying to make it more buy being held back

Decline Do you think CDPR is capable of making a good game again?

Based on their recent press releases, I very much doubt it. Even if you disregard their decision to sell their souls in the name of ESG, they're working on far more than they have the ability to reliably develop. They can't handle a single open world RPG, and now they're working on several of...

    Fallout: Bakersfield GZDoom total conversion

Having been there in person, I can confirm that this is indeed an accurate representation of Bakersfield

CDPR Group update - 5 Witcher games, Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and new IP in production.

Pursuing ESG has got to be a violation of fiduciary duty given how often it tanks profits. Disney and the recent MCU releases are perfect examples. The only way this shit is going to end is if investors revolt and sue over the corpos blowing their money for daddy Fink's approval

CDPR Group update - 5 Witcher games, Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and new IP in production.

Two major games in production, one of which is the start of a trilogy? Their last game was a dumpster fire and they weren't trying to multitask. This reeks of desperation. If anything, CDPR should be scaling back and doing everything they can to not fuck up their reputation even further

    Anime Overwatch

It's pretty obvious that these people are ideologically driven. Like you said, removing annoying people from your game experience is trivial. The only practical reason anyone would want to exert this kind of control is if they were making an active effort to oust certain people from the...

    Anime Overwatch

How the fuck are they even justifying this? And for that matter, why bother? They already have all your personal info if you use a card to pay. Is this even legal in all jurisdictions?

Decline Fandom acquires Metacritic, Gamespot/GameFAQs, Giant Bomb, multiple others

I can't even remember the last time I used a GameFAQs guide. Still, it feels like a huge symbolic loss. GameFAQs still feels old-school in a way

Why are so many new games set in the Warhammer 40k universe

I don't mind so long as it's done right. Stuff can happen, it just shouldn't drastically change the dynamic. So far has been fine, it's represented an escalation if anything.
