RPGs allowing you to invest skill points freely

It's a game. It's an abstraction. Other games try to be more of a simulation. Both works. Play, and don't overanalyze.

Gold Box SSI's Gold Box Series Thread

You pretty much need two guys with DBF and 18 DEX in that final battle, and some luck with Initiative. Last time I played my Ranger/Mage was last man standing (Mirror Images tipped the balance). The Beholders are not too bad if you know the right tactic against them (don't get too close). And of...

Top 10 Manliest Game Characters (2024 edition)

It's a role playing game, so JC can be anything. Which is why his voice is kind of unemotional and ambigious.

Gold Box SSI's Gold Box Series Thread

Against Beholders, your melee guys should use Fine Longbows. With the 23 STR they should have (from Enlarge spell or Girdle) they can do significant damage while avoiding the Beholders' rays. In the final battle high DEX for high Inititive is imperative. DEX is the only physical stat that...

Baldur's Gate The Baldur's Gate Series Thread

I'd say it significantly harder than any fight in the vanilla game+SCS. The Twisted Rune is doable after a few tries when you know the best difficulty, the final Ascencion+SCS I gave up on (sub-optimal party), but the Chosen of Cyric was just ridiculous. At least that was my experience.

Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor

Stealth is free. Invisibility means a supply of invisibility potions. Backstabbing is nice for taking out mages without Stoneskin, as well as lone Kobold Commandos. Fighting large groups it is a good opening move; then use precious potions if in danger. Uh, sorry for off topic posting, BTW.

Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor

Pickpocket is too binary, so I agree with that. But stealth is very useful for scouting and backstabbing.

Huh? All the thief skills are useful. Or do you play with the Party AI on?

Blobbers, don't know what to make of them

For real time blobbers, start with Dungeon Master, the original one. For turn based blobbers, you may consider starting with The Bard's Tale, if more varied dungeon graphics is important to you.

Incline RPG Codex's Best RPGs - 2024 - VOTE ONLY THREAD

Good thing this was annouced in News, since half glancing at the topic title I thought it was a discussion about the top CRPGs released in 2024. Top RPGs: * Might&Magic 2 * Might&Magic 6 * Dungeon Master * Chaos Strikes Back * Ultima Underworld * Pools of Darkness * The Dark Queen of Krynn *...

    Really Obscure RPGs

If it's made by Paragon, it's probably a piece of matabolism discharge matter. BTW, it's covered (somewhat) on The CRPG Addict.

    Screenshot thread

This gave me a sense of Deja Vu. My assassin chick was a bit miffed that Heyphatso didn't call her "fresh meat".
