    Imperator: Rome - your typical Paradox grand strategy. After disastrous launch it was patched into somewhat playable game. Praetorians - 20+ years old RTS centered around Caesar's career. Bit dated, but has some interesting mechanics.

    Is there any good space-based roguelike? I tried Out There Omega, but it's just too punishing to me. You die all the time due to RNG.

    Yes and no. They tinkered around for example pop and planet management, but these things were already in the game. At the same time the game does not even try to simulate any internal affairs of each empire.

    Lots of cash was thrown into the PR department, including several AoE2 youtubers "moving" onto the new game. Now everyone is backpedalling and returning to the original game.
