The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition - Obsidian's first-person sci-fi RPG set in a corporate space colony

Ah right. But it's the same thing, it's quite schizophrenic for you to side against the obvious wishes of The Board and think they'll be fine with your decision. My impression of the town is that it was run by a guy who had to make hard choices just to survive. And Parvati, the pet character...

The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition - Obsidian's first-person sci-fi RPG set in a corporate space colony

How many people are going to instill granarchist as the town leader? You have to go out of your way to do it. For some reason TOW didn't bother to do any faction specific achievements so there's no way of telling what the ratio is.

Baldur's Gate Larian is moving away from D&D, no BG3 DLC or BG4

I don't know anyone who played Diablo on Playstation. Seems like the reviews for it were middling as well? https://www.ign.com/articles/1998/03/28/diablo Who the hell cares about console gamers? The vast majority of console players were literally small children. The PC game core demographic...

The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition - Obsidian's first-person sci-fi RPG set in a corporate space colony

You put the granarchist in charge of the town and you thought The Board would be okay with that?

Baldur's Gate Larian is moving away from D&D, no BG3 DLC or BG4

Pretend it's the year 1998 or 1999. The top two crpgs in existence are Diablo and Baldur's Gate. Diablo is not significantly more successful than Baldur's Gate. It's only true that BG2 hit the crpg ceiling while Diablo 2 raised it a bit. They couldn't completely fix it. "Using a round-based...

Baldur's Gate Larian is moving away from D&D, no BG3 DLC or BG4

I'm talking about the first one. Diablo wasn't some niche title only known to RPG fans, it was huge. BG was also big. It turned Bioware from a fly-by-night studio into one with enough clout to move Neverwinter Nights from Interplay to Atari. They had so much clout that Obsidian was able to...

Baldur's Gate Larian is moving away from D&D, no BG3 DLC or BG4

A lot of people liked kotor, but no one actually liked kotor's combat. They acknowledged this themselves in the post-mortem https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/classic-postmortem-bioware-s-i-star-wars-knights-of-the-old-republic-i- Dragon Age was supposed to be PC-only but after they were...

Baldur's Gate Larian is moving away from D&D, no BG3 DLC or BG4

Both titles eventually sold 2.5 million each. The competition: Everyone knew Diablo and the BGs were just as successful.

Incline Disco Elysium - The Final Cut - a hardboiled cop show isometric RPG

I played it and it's definitely a commie game written by jaded communists. But it doesn't force communism on you true enough. :M

Cain on Games - Tim Cain's new YouTube channel

Good ol' Tim saying that crunch isn't always on management and in many cases a result of employees who spend too much time goofing off or cutting out early. He and some probably-autistic woman utterly destroyed a class by being the only people to pass an assignment that required them to...

KickStarter Solasta: Crown of the Magister Thread - now with Palace of Ice sequel DLC

I believe imposing a limit is sufficient. Make the buffs piddly and prone to just vanishing if the caster takes damage and I have very little incentive to use them. Josh Sawyer fell into a similar trap in the PoEs, where you have all those short buffs that can only be cast in combat that last a...

KickStarter Solasta: Crown of the Magister Thread - now with Palace of Ice sequel DLC

This was not quite accurate, the Dark Castle was just the nadir in terms of area design. Overall I didn't mind it. It's true that many fights are easy, but I don't care about that and wouldn't want to play a tactical rpg where every fight is demanding. The Mind of the Master quest was pretty...

Eternity Pillars of Eternity + The White March Expansion Thread

That magazine was published in 1982. Again, the character sheet was made in 1980. Editing the post to hopefully nip all this in the bud.

Eternity Pillars of Eternity + The White March Expansion Thread

That splatbook was published in 1985, Gygax published Conan's character sheet in 1980. Barbarians as a class flat out didn't exist. And when they made 2nd edition, they didn't bother including those rules and didn't update it themselves until 1995.

    inXile General Discussion Thread

Hey, it turns out we won't have Zyklon Beekers to kick around anymore, the guy left inXile back in November. How curious that he didn't want to see Clockwork Revolution on through the end.
