    Grimoire Thread

Well, Ellsworth apparently has had his orchestral tracks ready and lying around for a while. I have no idea why he hasn't contacted Cleve yet and informed him of that.

That reminds me, I actually took the liberty of contacting Ellsworth a few years ago. I wanted to know whether he was going to orchestrate all the in-game tracks, which would make it possible to use the ost in the game as an alternative to the in-game MIDI. His answer was that he had...

Second the question about the fate of the long awaited orchestral ost, any news, be it good or bad, would be welcome.

    Grimoire Thread

The threading model in Grimoire is weird. There are two threads, one of which performs some preliminary initialization, sets up a window procedure and finally starts another thread where all the fun takes place. From the point the second thread is spawned the first thread does essentially...

Meanwhile on Steam: 69% of the 433 user reviews for this game are positive.

Incline Something incredible will happen (Next Thursday). Incline.

Manual aside, the scaling issues mentioned in this guy's so called review were finally fixed in V3. He's obviously reviewing an earlier version of the game, which he probably pirated or bought and refunded - otherwise he would've received the update.

This is not a review by any definition. Reported, please do the same.

    Grimoire - full screen mode

Sounds an awful lot like the recently identified issue with scaling going haywire when dpi virtualization kicks in. For now, try this workaround: right-click on the game's executable file (Grimoire.exe), select Properties, go to Compatibility tab, check Disable display scaling on high DPI...

    Grimoire Thread

I hate to say this, but I believe there's a big fat problem with Grimoire's rendering code: it doesn't seem to be thread-safe at all.

No one is blaming you, Cleve. Certainly not me. I appreciate all the hard work you've been doing and have a deep respect for you. Please consider using assembly manifest file with dpiAware property set to true rather than SetProcessDPIAware though. It does the same thing but it's safer, cleaner...

    The manifest code embedded in the Grimoire's executable looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"> <trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"> <security>...

Indeed, calling SetProcessDPIAware is one way to declare DPI awareness, although according to the article on microsoft.technet, using this method "is discouraged, except in very specific circumstances", because "if a DLL caches DPI settings during initialization, invoking SetProcessDPIAware in...
