    Dying Light

I just tried it on a Radeon and it seems alright. I only tried a few invasions though, and the only framedrops had to do with being sprayed with UV and next to burning cars; I guess NVIDA HDR or w/e is badly optimized.

7 minutes? What the shit, it should be 99% of the game. Daylight should feel like freedom to a prisoner in Auschwitz right before they're plunged into Gulag.

Double Fine plays Doom with John Romero

I watched a bit of this yesterday. Romero comes off as a tard and the talentless hack hosting the show couldn't stop saying "Yeah" and vigorously shaking his head in agreement. He also seemed to know as much, if not more, about Doom than John. Overall, both good and bad for nostalgia. I.e...

Ok, nice and easy. I'm just saying, once you've cranked light-source intensity to 200% and still can't hide that your engine looks worse than id-tech 2, you might as well go all the way and add over-the-top bloom and start aiming your pistols sideways to impress the cool kids.

Glare schmare. Guess it needs some lens-flares and bloom.

    Needs more bloom.

Heresy: There is no reason to expect a 2D-isometric engine again. But now we do have one...

Well, the graphics are certainly better than Red Faction.

Skyrim is shit. 10 talentless hacks managed to build a few 3d caves, wow.

Doom vs Brutal Doom - DISCUSS!

Can someone extend an invite to this gentleman, or was it perhaps TBS all along? The name certainly fits the theme of the mod.

Why are Character Models so ugly? DISCUSS!!!

WTF IS THIS SHIT I think they just weren't detailed enough to be bad. The unique looks mostly came from eq. sort of like in UO. It's actually a good approach, especially when budget constraints prevent you from doing anything halfway decent.

    Dying Light

I didn't play it too long, but I remember feeling the maps felt quite linear even if big. Weren't there chokepoints that made you go through sewers and shit? DL is going to be the same shit, with locked tunnels preventing you from reaching certain parts "until it's time".

Why are Character Models so ugly? DISCUSS!!!

3d is simply inferior to 2d in trying to capture the human form. Not really. You were probably just too distracted by the beautiful 2d backdrops to notice how bad they actually were.

    Dying Light

Dead island's system got boring pretty damn fast, but I do wonder if that was all in the quests and not more to do with the lackluster level design and the game's overall aspiration to be a Diablo clone. The quests actually made a lot of sense in the setting, in being about hunting for...
