  1. DosBox batches

Okay, now I've got it broken into two parts. I've got a shortcut in the Daggerfall folder titled startdosbox, which mounts the folder to C (but doesn't follow through on setting the freesize). Then I've got a batch file in the same folder titled playdaggerfall.bat, which does all the other steps...
  2. DosBox batches

I haven't been much into games for a while, especially after my harddrive (which I had not backed up) crashed, taking all my abandonware with it. That changed recently when I read that Bethesda was freely releasing Daggerfall, which I had previously been unable to get working properly...
  3. An RPG without leveling

I definitely think characters should get promoted and gain more authority throughout the game, as that is the primary way in which people advance in the world around us. Not many people get tough enough to kill everybody in town, but gaining enough influence to get people to wipe others out for...
  4. Injury systems, a.k.a. "hitpoints"

One of my favorite aspects of adventure games was trying to find all the ways you could die. I think it is a major blemish on LucasArts that they did not include deaths in their adventure games. The Deus Ex injury system was cool. More games should have used it.
  5. D&D started it all!

Thanks for linking to the capes demo, HS. That was pretty neat.
  6. An RPG without leveling

The PnP, which should have been the basis for a crpg rather than a shooter. Mythos Points put a cap on your Sanity Points. SP can be recovered, MP cannot.
  7. Which Oblivion Dev Lied The Most?

I think it's an exact duplicate of one Nick the Imperial made when he was trying to get banned.
  8. An RPG without leveling

Call of Cthulhu has Mythos Points. It is like a permanent HP that can never be recovered, and after a certain limit your character can no longer be played.
  9. NSFW Best Thread Ever [No SJW-related posts allowed]

I did not get the joke.
  10. Game News Game Developers Choice Awards finalists

badscience is actually a science-blog, not a political blog, and they were mocking something in an academic journal. To answer your question, dagorkan, both your concept of menticide and the "microfascism" of the post-modern critics of evidence-based medicine involve elites declaring...
  11. Which Oblivion Dev Lied The Most?

Hey, what are you doing here? You're dead!
  12. Game News Jade Empire gone gold

Are there any non-white rednecks (Thomas Sowell's neologisms aside)? Native Americans are already red all over (like a newspaper hoho), and blacks are darker than red even without any sun. Asians, perhaps? I've never seen one sun-burnt.
  13. Game News Game Developers Choice Awards finalists

Reminds me of this hilarious bit on the micro-fascism of evidence-based medicine.
  14. Company News Obsidian wants you. Again.

I believe the Codex already noted this review earlier.
  15. Review G4 reviews Gothic 3 - 3/5

Geminto, I disagree with your view on what makes a good role-playing game, but after reading your posts in this thread, I don't hate you anymore. I don't assume that matters all that much to you, but it was significant enough to me I thought I should make a note of it. I haven't played Gothic...
