Game News The Wayward Realms coming to Kickstarter in May

Yet another "please fund our kickstarter so we can go begging for publishers" kind of deal. Also, there's clearly a demand for first-person open-world RPGs with lots of lore. Even grandmas have heard of Skyrim. It's not the genre, it's the studio. It really irks me when devs pretend like the...

    Helldivers 2

My advice is just play difficulty 9. Every once in a while you get some assholes, but most of the time you get the most chill teammates who know what they're doing. The only problem is if you're running public games sometimes you run into a squad of <level 30s.

KickStarter The Wayward Realms - upcoming Daggerfall-like RPG from original Elder Scrolls developers - coming to Kickstarter in May

    1. Video is very clear that the kickstarter's goal is "bringing you an Early Access release" of the game. 2. Implies later on that they will need to seek a publisher. That plus the fact that the gameplay looks like a unoptimized Unreal template project made up of blueprints isn't very...

KickStarter SKALD: Against the Black Priory - retro RPG inspired by Ultima - coming May 30th

Wasn't the 10-hour estimate from a while back? Maybe it's longer now. I haven't seen any new play length estimates from the dev. Either way, if the original plan was for a 10-hour RPG, then that's what the dev had intended. And for this price point, it fits. I don't mind. If the game is bad...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Henry is back - coming 2024

If certain studios didn't give open-world a bad name, it really is the best way to make a RPG. It also best simulates DM-guided tabletop games. Ultimate freedom. Nonlinearity. World simulation. A vast space to explore. Of course, even the largest companies would struggle to fill these worlds...

Cain on Games - Tim Cain's new YouTube channel

This entire debacle is why creatives need to own their IPs. Working for someone else is exactly that, you give them the best years of your life, your best ideas, your best work, only to have some corporate stooges completely mangle your work years down the line. Absolutely disgusting.

    When..

The funniest thing is that they didn't release a new Fallout game to go along with the TV show that they bribed all the mainstream press into fellating. All they did was some lazy updates for their older games and apparently it still crashed nexus mods because so many people got into them...

KickStarter Baldr's Squid Isekai: A Parody - now available on Early Access

Ah. I was originally going to include some microsoft paint renditions of dragons attacking a big-boobed squid or something as the opening cinematic. Actually, I still might.

Buildfag RPGs (aside from Diablo clones)

Credit where credit is due, if you can tolerate Owlcat games, I hear that build enthusiasts really enjoy them. I'm not sure if "deep" is the right term for their games, more like "exploit broken shit."

KickStarter SKALD: Against the Black Priory - retro RPG inspired by Ultima - coming May 30th

$15 is a solid, affordable price. Especially if like people said, the planned play length is around 10 hours.

    Helldivers 2

The 40-minute missions are straight up procedural busywork. The 15-minute missions are just mindless killing sprees. The 20-minute defense missions are the only interesting ones but they're endlessly bugged.

    Incline Colony Ship RELEASE THREAD

I remember Mass Effect, it was really lackluster (save the bug queen, 30 extra war points and some extra text! etc). I'm thinking basically of basically the old school transfer your party over into this game. This includes all stats and progression sticks, as well as inventory, triggers...

    Incline Colony Ship RELEASE THREAD

I'm currently testing if the market is receptive to 10-hr long episodic RPGs with save file transfers (you copy a save file and dump it in a folder or something equally similar) to the sequel. That being said my games have a... slightly different audience, so I'm not sure if my results would...
