  1. Game News Avernum 5 for Windows released

I still maintain that Exile 1-3 were and are 20x better than the Avernums. The Exile games actually felt foreign and serious. I never got that from the Avernums, perhaps because of the absolutely awful cartoony art style. Recently I tried starting Nethergate because I had heard good...
  2. Review 10 future classics according to Forbes

Because 99% of this forum regularly proves they have absolutely no working knowledge of modern console games, especially console RPGs?
  3. Review 10 future classics according to Forbes

I have a hard time disagreeing with 7/10ths of that list. Those seven won't be the ONLY classics, but I'm certain each will be considered one if they're not already. The three that fail: -The Witcher does not belong on the list. In fact, it's already been forgotten. Time can only be...
  4. Bioware's homage to Star Trail

Wizardry 8 (and RoA) had mindread stuff, which is close. I should go back and charm the Iron Throne guard so I can actually understand the plot of Baldur's Gate.
  5. Bioware's homage to Star Trail

Did Andharia have Dumbfuck before or after creating this thread?
  6. Pirates of the western sea

I wonder how much Tom would want for the POWS source and assets? I'm not much of a programmer but I'm not bad at organizing fundraisers...
  7. Bioware's homage to Star Trail

Was she the statue in the Basilisks? I don't think I ever used her.
  8. Pirates of the western sea

What do the puke green expanses of sea represent? I went in one of these areas, found a secret island, then got attacked by a bunch of... sea giants or something. wtf.
  9. Pirates of the western sea

Thanks for the help. After doing the boat quest I sailed east til I hit the end of the line, then sailed back to the starter town and headed south. I've been moseying around the big southern continent since then and it's been pretty boring, not many ships around and all the towns are...

  11. Pirates of the western sea

Crap. What can I do if my Priest has a crappy (ie limited) spell list then? My main character is a Mage but it looks like I should have gone Priest. Is there a world map on the internet anywhere?
  12. Pirates of the western sea

I started playing POWS back before Christmas and recently got back to it. I was going to make a new thread with some questions but as long as this one is here... *After I find the armor and purchase the ship, are there any other quests left in the game or is it just free wandering? *Does...
  13. Why can't I play/enjoy Ultima VII?

Second. It's not like Fallout where you can play a dumb as bricks guy and get totally different dialog, so really it's only good for two playthroughs, both times as Wizards really because there is nothing remarkable about Warrior or Thief.
  14. Why can't I play/enjoy Ultima VII?

I love PS:T but recently finished replaying it. Sounds ridiculous but: -Planescape has some degree of combat other than "press C." -Planescape has the best setting(s) in a RPG ever (the sheer vareity beats out Wasteland/Fallout). Britannia is only interesting if you have some degree of...
  15. Why can't I play/enjoy Ultima VII?

Maybe I'm in a gaming funk but this just isn't holding my attention. Lack of good combat and any kind of character customization is a real downer. I wanted an RPG, not an adventure game.
