KickStarter The Wayward Realms - upcoming Daggerfall-like RPG from original Elder Scrolls developers - coming to Kickstarter in May

Let's see yours then. I heard they lost their magic wand. You know, the one that would allow them to go from a random Youtuber saying "Let's make a Daggerfall successor" to a finished game in three years, despite there being no budget and the team consisting of volunteers working in their free...

Why first person perspective is becoming rarer and rarer among RPGs?

There might be ten different versions of Skyrim, but it's still just one game.

Why first person perspective is becoming rarer and rarer among RPGs?

When first person games (of any type) first started appearing, I vaguely remember some people complaining that they gave them motion sickness and they wouldn't play them. Also, the camera is closer to everything, so more detailed models and textures are needed, which takes more time and effort...

    Are text adventures RPGs?

If you start adding RPG elements to a text adventure, then eventually you end up with a hybrid or a text-based RPG. Infocom experimented with this a little, but they called their games "interactive fiction" giving them a little more leeway.

    Dungeon Crawlers Jam 2022

Thanks. I was hoping to have another stab at the Dungeon Crawler Jam this year. Last year, I spent too much time searching for suitable software so didn't have enough time left to learn how to use it. Is anyone else here going to (re)try it?

Building for RP vs. building to "beat the game"

I think it is possible to allow both weak and overpowered characters to play and complete a game if you design for that from the outset. The first example of this I can think of is Might and Magic VI as I have seen articles in the past which explain how to set up and play with deliberately weak...

Incline WORLD'S GREATEST GENERIC RPG BLOBBER ENGINE : "VAULT OF TERROR"

Grima Wormtongue (from LotR) made that mistake, and he never lived it down.

KickStarter The Wayward Realms - upcoming Daggerfall-like RPG from original Elder Scrolls developers - coming to Kickstarter in May

That's what happens when an attention-seeking Youtuber just has to make an announcement about a project that hasn't even reached the ideas stage yet.

Elder Scrolls Todd Howard Appreciation Thread

Where's the "Why haven't they sacked him yet?" option?

Which programming language did you choose and why?

BCX and the full version of GLBASIC both allow you to use inline C within BASIC source code.

Which programming language did you choose and why?

Does anyone know of any other languages similar to Nim and Haxe that can create source code in multiple programming languages? Nim can compile to C, C++ and JavaScript. Haxe can compile to JavaScript, C++, C#, Java, JVM, Python, Lua, PHP and Flash.
