Well ok, my character name is NigBeater. Yeah, I'm worried that they might disable it or something. What happens then, if I can't make another one?

Perhaps it would be better if you wrote an e-mail to their support, claiming it was supposed to be "NugBeater" or "BigBeater" but you made a typo and would like to change it.

I seem to recall that they were taking a really harsh stance against offensive handles during the beta so you'd better investigate your options.

Where the fuck is your char code? Hover over your portrait at the top right and it'll tell you.
It's 802. Although I don't know if that will stay the same if I get my name changed. Oh, and North America.

Yeah, it looks like you can't make additional characters - you're stuck with what you have. I read their offensive name policy and it looks like if they detect an offensive name they will change it to something random and then allow you to pick a new one at a later date. So maybe I'll just wait for that to happen.

And I also read that you can't add friends across different regions?

Yeah, at the moment the different regions have different servers working independently.

They promised to change it along the way, but it's probably bullshit and they'll never actually do anything about it.

Maybe because you said something akin to...SRRY I'M KIND A NOOB I THINK I'D PREFER TO PLAY THE AI INSTEAD which makes you a chronic faggot
So admitting I'm not ready yet for multi makes me a faggot? Enough so that you have to reply to this thread and say that to everybody? Jesus you are butthurt.

It's worth playing against the AI mainly to get a feel for your units, timings, and tech, but not really for viable strategies.

If you're worried about your ladder ranking, custom games or FFA doesn't count against it (but you'll have to finish or skip your practice - not placement - matches before you can access it). Although, it's a lot more variable who you're up against and with a FFA you have three other opponents to worry about... but still lets you get a glimpse of what you might generally go up against.

FFA is kinda lame as Terran. Turtle then build a crap load of Thors. Press "I Win" button.

Kind of true in general though. What are the counters to Thors? Because they seem massively overpowered at the moment.

I play zerg, but I find that mutas and lings counter thors really well. Thors severely lack mobility, so while thors "hard counter" mutas, mutas can be everywhere at once and force the terran to fuck around and build tons of thors while zerg can make something that will do well vs thors, and expand, too.

No ones ever on on the NA server anymore. Even when the game first came out, there were only 3 people at most playing at a time. And when they are on they don't talk, even the host of this thread doesn't know how to PM properly...

I don't even want to play SC2 that much. I'm a Zerg player and SC2's Zerg suck. Setting aside balance they're still not fun to play and don't have any fun cool new units. Fuck roaches.

Is this you kingcomrade:

T has a lot of units that are only good early

kingcomrade United States. August 16 2010 13:36. Posts 63

I'm basically talking about reapers, hellions, and banshees. Hellions do see some late-game use, but usually not much. With reapers and banshees they both seem to be early game rush units, take your enemy by surprise and win or severely weaken him, or fail and get the unit killed and move on.

Reapers are kind of hobbled by overlapping midgame/lategame roles with the marine, except they can't shoot air and also have a retarded build time. Banshees I think are just hobbled by their expense compared to their durability and usefulness. They don't really do that much damage compared to other units and only hit single targets.

Hellions...I really don't know. They are a bit expensive, I suppose, but I can't think of why they never seem to perform as well as I think they should. I think it's their attack rate, they attack very slowly. In midgame battles when you don't have a lot of time to do lots of kiting micro they just kind of melt and don't do much damage. Like, if you can't one-shot a unit then kite away, then one shot another, Hellions don't do so well.

I beef a lot in games about under-used units (if you dig back into the past I'm sure you'll find my early posts on the forum being about "what are scouts for?")

Games aren't for nerds any more. You either have to work to become a normal or an ultranerd and grow a beard and play Dwarf Fortress all day while drinking your own urine.
You can work and be a nerd in your free time. Or at least you could. Now every time I say I'm an engineer and play 90's games in my spare time people go "Oh like the guys in Big Bang Theory?". That or they ask me "Why play the old ones? They've been releasing 10/10 titles like crazy these last few years, you should try them out!"

I want to kill stuff. IRL.

You should carry a monocle and when you hear that, you slowly take that out, wear it, and then do this

Protoss can counter Thors with immortals. It's not cheap, but they're still more cost effective than thors. A good protoss, who can micro his ships, can devestate thors with void rays. He'll have to find somethign to charge their lazors on before enganging, and make sure his void rays are spread out though.

2 immortals (250 minerals, 100 gas, 4 supply each) will take out a thor (300 minerals, 200 gas, 6 supply) without losses. 3 immortals will take out 2 thors with one immortal surviving. Possibly 2 if properly microed.

Depending on the environment, a zerg player can try to get the Thor with broodlords. They do a surprising amount of damage and they outrange the thor. Thors anti-air is kind of weak, but splashes. The main reason thors rape mutalisks is because they clump up.

If you build a dozen zerglings (300 minerals, 6 supply) and get a surround on an undefended thor, they can kill it as well.

Blizzard has some amazing programmers, artists, and animators, but boy do they not have any good writers. It wasn't until I got back to the title screen and saw the SC2 logo that I realized I wasn't playing a sonic the hedgehog fanfiction or watching a Syfy Original movie.

Blizz also needs to lay off the opera music. That stuff is fine for Warcraft which is supposed to be corny, but Starcraft is supposed to have some dignity.
